    Is this good for throwing??

I didn't know where to post this? Anyway, how does this look good or bad? Do you think this helps with his throwing technique? To me this is pretty ghetto but looks fun and dangerous YouTube- Shuaijiao Training in Beijing

Bah, those Chinese and their fancy contraptions. Just use a tree like the rest of us.

That looks like a good way for me to hurt my already hurt knee, but I bet it would really help my uchi-mata too. Wrap the bar in foam and send me one please!

        Okay?!?

        Okay...

I could see this being good for conditioning and developing the muscles involved in uchi mata, but as for improving the technique itself, I don't see it.

Funny I was just thinking about this thing! I saw an article on that contraption years ago in Black Belt Magazine. I always wanted to give one a try as a solo throwing tool but this is the first time I have seen one used. Seems limited in its application but it could be fun to play with.

I think it's an accident waiting to happen. The center of gravity of the pole is at its base. The center of gravity of a person is at their hips. I don't see how it will actually improve the development of the throw since it's a different dynamic.

Look at what his arms are doing as he throws the pole, his right arm is dragging behind leaving a lot of space and his left arm, with the strap, is dropped to his waist. Bad form for an Uchi-mata/harai-goshi type throw. Plus he's off balance as all hell.

He would be better off with a bicycle innertube or some bungee cord wrapped around a tree or pole. He'd get more continuous reps in while working against a more realistic direction of resistance.
