    Bolding is mine.

    What is a "12 month & I'm a black belt" club?

"These are special programs offered at sports oriented schools. It usually costs between $3,000.00 to $5,000.00. The deceitful instructors will claim to teach your son or daughter until they achieve black belt status, no matter how long it takes or how old they are. I'm sorry to say that the susceptible people who enroll their children in these programs are being taken advantage of. Their child will make black belt in 12 months, will begin to develop distorted, truculent attributes and will be ignorant of any effective self defense. Most parents don't see through the smokescreen and come to the conclusion that that their child is a genius for making his rank so quickly. In reality, they bought the black belt as soon as they signed the contract. Stay away from any schools that offer these types of programs. They are dishonest."
How can I determine a real Martial arts school that teaches the essence from a Sport school?

"At the present time, you have to ask a very simple and direct question. Ask them if they do MMA / UFC or do any sport involvement or tournaments. If they say 'yes', then they are not a Martial arts school and they teach Martial sports. This is getting very tricky to determine. Trying to broaden their market, they now have cunning ads that are claiming they teach Zen meditation and Chi Kung with the sport (which is 100% contrary to what their Martial sport involvement is about). You can rule out 90% of the frauds by asking about sport involvement. Then in the 10% left, you have a good chance of finding a school that teaches the Martial way. Asking them that simple question will save you alot of time and frustration. If you happen to see the words MMA or see pictures of any of the MMA fighters on their website, it's a Martial sport and not Martial arts."

$640.00 a month for two classes a week. It's absolutely amazing he's been in business this long. And I thought the Mcdojo I went to for $160 a month for four classes a week was overpriced (and of course, it was, but this is just pure insanity).

Is it really any great surpise that a 'traditional' martial arts practicioner is against the concept of MMA?

MMA proves what works. So it would be a fair assumption that his does not work.

Just like the hundreds of other 'GrandMasters' and 'Sifu's' that rally against MMA.

It's as if there's something magical about some traditional martial arts which, after only a few months, makes them completely impervious to all kinds of logical argument backed up by at least 20 years worth of hard empirical evidence.

It would also cost you several dollars to have him tell you that in person.
It's such a confusing price structure too. So groups of 4 doing kickboxing is $840 per month, but families of 3-4 doing Aikido is $970 per month unless an uncle was in the Police. If there's another family member who was in the forces then there's an 11.2% discount but if any of the children have done any Judo classes before they can't attend or there's an extra 16.7% fee increase.

                  Right...

I didn't mean somebody should jump him. Thought it'd be obvious I meant challenge him to some form of fight, maybe an MMA newb could do it in hopes he'll accept due to said MMAist's noobness or something.

There should be a special place in hell for people that wants to regulate what other people can use their time on so it fit themselves better

Can't disagree with you there. Not only is his approach to martial arts objectively flawed (to put it politely), he is going out of his way to deny his students any kind of realistic way of gauging their skills and their progress. My question would be whether this is a concious strategy to build a cult-like organisation, or a natural outgrowth of a subconcious desire to avoid facing the fact that the majority of what he knows is useless?

You're right about him not accepting a challenge though. Whether or not he admits it to himself, he has carefully constructed his little world so that any challenge would be seen by his disciples as evidence of the thuggish nature of those dastardly martial sports types.

"A challenge? Ha! Imagine, that guy thinks that martial arts is about fighting! What a thug. I refuse to stoop to his level. This is exactly what I was talking about. Now grab my wrist. No, not like that..."

WTF is Bushido Kickboxing? I thought this guy doesn't beleive in any sparring or "sport" martial arts?

Ooooh!! I got it now! It is his cute little term for cardio kickboxing. What a TOOL!!

I need to find out, when and where, this debate is. It would be nice to have some people from the so-called "sport" community have this tool answer questions in a public setting. Once he is seen as the fucking idot he is, it might get MMA in NY faster.
