How to talk to someone living inside an abusive cult group

I wasn't sure where to post this one since it's serious but not really an investigation. This article deals primarily with religious cults but I think anybody whose been around here long enough recognizes much of the same behaviors and reactions from people in martial arts cults, in fact I can relate to a lot of what shes says in the article from my time in the Bujinkan.

It is kind of interesting. A thought hit me while reading this. We do exactly the opposite with the crazy guys posting here.

If you want the comical approach, Watch 1987's Dragnet.

Charlie, just because the rules of YMAS say that you can post stupid shit, doesn't mean you should post stupid shit.

Anyway, Uglybugly raises a valid point. The reception we give Believers here on bullshido is probably not the best one for getting them to see the light. That said, there's just no way I would be willing to put in the effort needed to properly de-program (not the exact word I'm looking for) every cultist that comes on here, and the short sharp shock is usually the best I can muster.

How about we form our own cult and steal people away from the other cult like MA's. After they have been initiated into the Cult of the Bull, or whatever we call it, we can reveal the ancient secrets of live, resistant training, that we have guarded for centuries.

If you insist on the bull, Mythraism or something Mesopotamian will work.

Well so what ? Why do you or anyone else for that matter think that it is your obligation as much as within your ability to "de-program" (I think that word is perfect) those dopes ? I think it's funny when the kool aid kids announce to the world what they are.

This website would be pretty boring without vids like some yellow bamboo types actually trying to block a punch or takedown by shouting at their opponent. THAT is cult like belief. THAT is entertainment. How dare you try to deprive us of that. How many dummies would actually stand there and let you slug them if they didn't believe in chi-blocks ? Life is too short to miss stuff like that.

I can see the bumper sticker:

Bullshido - Where cowpoke is a verb....

I neither feel that it is my "obligation", nor am I under the illusion that I am capable of deprogramming these people. I just try - partially to help out, but mainly for shits and giggles.
