So I found a WC group on Facebook...

So I don't want this to turn in to a WC bashing session, although there is a lot of potential from the start.

So I'm looking at this WC group on facebook and there is this guy asking why they don't see WC compete in MMA. And he made a statement that the chunners could compete if they just tried not to attack certain parts of the body because it could be potentially lethal.

The problem though is that I'm almost 100% certain that most of the strikes he named would be "legal" in the UFC or any other Mixed Martial Arts contest.

On the things that were listed were: Strikes to the nose, throat, solar plexus, and open palm strikes.

Now I'm almost certain that ALL of these are acceptable in the UFC with the exception of maybe throat strikes.

My question is not specifically geared to UFC but in ALL MMA. What techniques are currently banned from competition?

I know nut shots, head kicks on a downed opponent, and eye gouging, but is that it? I've never seen an instance in MMA where someone was hit in the throat. (Maybe because everyone tucks their chin like they're supposed to...) But I was just wondering what the ruling on those strikes would be...

You can't in the UFC but I'm not sure about other types of MMA, Vale Tudo etc, probably not. I'm sure some googling will find that out.

Sounds like that site has a bad case of Teh D34dleez.

Hey would you look at that!

I'll go and kill myself now for not looking on the UFC site first.

      :seppuku:

I watch a lot of MMA, and I don't think I've EVER seen someone hit in the throat even on accident. Although back when I did little kid TKD I was side kicked in the throat before... it sucked but it didn't kill me.
(However it did stop the fight.)

I can see why it would be very dangerous though, and now I'm off to Google to see if I can find a Vale Tudo etc. ruling on it.

Also this reminds me of the thread earlier this week about the boy who got kicked in the neck in a TKD competition and died...

I'm pretty sure all, save for the throat strikes, are legal.

Bas Rutten has used open palm strikes in multiple competitions.

Nose strikes are obviously legal. As for striking from under the nose up with the palm heel (which I would guess the Chunner is talking about) I'm not sure. I haven't seen it officially stated in the rules or mentioned anywhere else. Striking up the nose is pretty much legal. Uppercuts and knee strikes up the nose have happened on numerous occassions without incident.

Solar Plexus shots are obviously legal.

The chunner has obviously never taken the time to watch a single fight and is just talking out of his ass.

Remember kids, this is how the Chun should look if practised with aliveness.

YouTube- Wing Chun full contact (Wing Tsun Kong Sau)

Kinda like a more brutal version of Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots.

Hell no! That's just simple sportfighting! Look: they're in a ring, they have gloves and protective helmets. There's even a referee!

Real, deadly WC sparring looks like this:

YouTube- Kick Ass Wing Chun Fight

(The guy to the right dies at the end of the video)

EDIT: the guy uploading it is actually calling it sparring:

Students sparring in class. Note this is not rehearsed.

Chunners need a new video. That one is so freaking old it should be banned.

Can someone start a fucking original wing chun thread please?

                          Jesus christ.

Hey douchebags...we got it...99% of wing chun is shit. Congratulations! You ran across part of the 99%! Crazy!

You don't need to start a thread.

And as you have eluded to...if you wanted to know the rules of UFC fights you probably could have found it faster than by posting a thread about how wing chun douchebags led you to ask the question which you are asking now to the internet...

                          I hate people.

                          Merry Christmas.

When all the chunners stop starting threads then you can complain.
