i am intensely studying this at the moment.
do you notice how Dondrup balances any intention to cause harm
by reflecting it back to the intender?
i am bringing this thread (from 2009) back
because i wonder if people still feel the same way
about this 'phenomenon'.
also, i was wondering about the same thing as the opening poster.
[edit]
here are some more related threads from this forum
with more videos demonstrating the phenomenon:
( well, i can't seem to post links, so i'll just post the titles,
which i found by searching for 'Dondrup Dorje'. )

Have you introduced yourself in newbietown? (manners)
What are your multiple "Chi based" martial arts?

He's not deluded imo, he is deluding others tho. People want to believe in this shit.
He jumped on the llama train at about the time Tibetan buddhism ( especially Dzogchen) was becoming the 'in' thing in the UK spiritual scene..probably not coincidental. Could be wrong but my cynicism knows almost no bounds regarding people like him.

My own experience with WC has been that this kind of talk is not usual. This guy has a history of this kind of talk whatever style he is showing, he was a bit of a 'player' in the ' internal arts ' scene and this is his spin..be it WC or Taiji or Chi gung..

I have generally been under the impression that a lot of the Chinese mysticism is based on fact but under a different name.
My old Kung Fu intsructor talked about the 'astral line' or something and he openly equated it to 'keep your balance'. I have read some Feng Shu books that talk about Chi flow through a room and it equated this to a more meaningful context - many people prefer placing chairs that don't face away from a door because people generally like to see who enters a room etc. I seem to recall they had several farming scenerios that descibed the same effect - I will try and look the book up for any interested parties.
I think that alot of the core concepts around this subject are based in reality and I have no problem if someone wants to use the phrase 'Chi' instead of 'Physical Energy' if that is the agreed definition for your training. The main problem with this is that without sufficiant agreement telling someone to "Put more Chi into it!!!" loses any meaning.
Ignoring the issue with calling something by a different name just to sound a bit cooler or more mysterious - the main problem is when a practitioner or teacher doesn't understand this (or wants to exploit it for cash from suckers) and starts talking about Chi projections with demonstrations from their eager, compliant students.
