The popularity of martial arts for kids has just plain gone off the scale. I'll admit that they can teach and the kids do pick up some things, but it just shocks me how easily BB is handed out sometimes. What is the world of martial arts coming to?

but seriously, i am not so surprised symbols got commodified, thats why i always favoured sports like boxing, MT, wrestling or sambo (where you get a red or blue belt depending on the colour of the kurtka and the tiny sexy awesome shorts)

Here's the good news: He has already received this great recognition, so he can quit now. I can't remember anything I did when I was four years old, so maybe he won't either. Now he's inoculated. It's like catching chickenpox when you're a kid instead of when you're mature. A little bullshido now will keep him from drawing dihedral wings and people jump-kicking samurai off of horses in the margins of his notebooks in high school.

Either that or he'll pick a fight with a judo BB in about 15 years and learn that not all darkly-tinted ribbons are created equal.
