this may apply to those who have been engaged in totally 'bullshido' martial arts or those that have otherwise just been a little nuts, and I do refer to the kind of meds administered by psychiatrists...anyone have any thoughts? (other than that I should take meds for starting this thread...)

Can medication make people realise they've believed weird things for years?

I am not sure what medicine can really do with the mind but it is possible to talk reason into people it is just that it can be very hard and painful.
Especially if that person has done some goofy martial art for 10+ years and walked around believing that he was the real deal :)
Gong sau is a much faster and less painful approach :)

Well say a person started meds for other personal problems and then had their little moment of clarity, no?Last edited by DayOfTheJackass; 8/26/2009 12:36am, .

If a doctor wants to force medicate somebody then I think that person has to be a threat to himself or others..
But seriously How can a drug make people realize how foolish their beliefs are?
The real issue with loony martial artists is that they have been indoctrinated
( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indoctrination ) into believing all the shit they do/say.

This is just like trying to get people out of religion or a cult.
There's Exit Counseling and more radically Deprogramming neither of which emphasize the use of any kind of drug.
A Cluebat might be useful though.
