it does not matter what I do... its a historical fact. I have a student who studies indonesian arts from a teacher in France, who likewise is Indonesian and it comes from him... so be sure to tell the indonesian guy that another Indonesian guy says as much.

Yeah the problem is that when practiced a palm strike has to have a thrusting motion to it. They seem to be mixed up and practicing a palm strike to take ground away.... like somoene would do with a punch of sorts. The best way to practice that palm strike is to drive it through a person's face by mutual consent (for practice purposes). Take the space occupied by their head and displace it with your hand.

Now to me the only real way to do that is have somoene with good gear take the hit from you. So, accordingly if somoene is going to learn how to fight with that technique, someone, like me, or a teacher with gear who teaches women, has to have the time and energy to digress into that skill set. Which is why I tell women to take the time to do that properly.

This is why a self-defense class specifically for women is better for them than a MMA school full of big ugly guys, as least as an introduction into martial arts.

My kung fu instructor now has occasional womens self defense classes. I declined helping out because of the traumatic Aikido incident, but when I heard an entire sorority was taking the class, I decided to drop by.

He taught basic strikes against a few attacks, without the chi stuff and animal styles we sometimes do. Now, a few decided to sign up, many didn't. But they all left with something they could use, better than when they came in.

(ps. Whats the difference between a sorority girl and a toilet? Toilets don't follow you around when your done)

These kinds of things at least make women think they can fight back and thinking you can fight back is the first step towards actually doing it. I guess the thing to keep in mind is that you don't have to beat the shit out of your attacker in a sexual assault situation, you just have to be loud and more trouble then your worth.

At the same time last year at ashly's family christmas get together her little 5'3" 105lb cousin discussed martial arts with us and told us that she knew "some moves that could kill someone' because of a little weekend course they had her do for work or something.

It hurt to hear, but at the same time I think this bullshit is better then nothing.
