ANIMAL McYoung shows how to realistically stab someone
I love the Dobson guy in that first video. He walks out of nowhere and spends the whole video saying nothing with a blank stare at something off camera. What a weird motherfucker.
there were some good things in that, while the technique may not be spot on, he certainly had some good things to say about the stereotypical MA knife disarm...
MacYoung's materials usually enlighten me on at the least one point per book or dvd. So many times it strikes me as one of those,"Well, I could have thought of that!!!" or "Gawd! how elementary", but then in all honesty: "Well, that's nice, but YOU DIDN'T."
Personally, MacYoung is a bit of a character, obviously, with a singular wit and style. He does have a healthy bit of OJT, way more real-life experience, much of it from the not-so-savory side of the equation. Yes, much of this is from his own mouth, but many LEOs and pros that I've been in contact with say he's the goods, so...
Hey, he talks much smack about Traditional MAs, but he likes FMAs and Silat, so I can't complain! :icon_mrgr
i found the video to be a mix of good and bad. lots of good thoughts on cutting and stabbing, then he says something like "a side kick to the knee will instantly break your leg".
other things i didn't like:
-not a huge fan of the footwork he demonstrated.
-i don't really like how he suggests that you should lead with your unarmed side. i thought leading with your knife would be a better idea?
-he has this weird idea about balancing your hips, and uses a bowl of water to illustrate his point.
other than that i'm pretty sure he knows how to kill someone with a knife better than most people.
my older brothers are big fans of pig hunting. they go out with dogs and big knives, hunt down the pigs, set the dogs on them and close in to stab them to death. i went along for a week of pig hunting one time and saw how they used the knives, which was quite similar to how "animal" suggested - stick it in deep to reach something vital like the heart (with the pigs it was usually through the top of the ribcage at the base of the neck), then kind of wiggle it about to slash things up. blood pumps out like crazy, splashing everywhere. i did one myself.
no slashing about on the surface, stab in deep and mess up the insides for a quick kill.
One of the best things I heard of with knife technique was to "stick it in and work it like a pump handle". Do it with a double-edged knife for extra joy.
