Stronghold the Movie by Victor Rook Controversy

There is a man by the name of Victor Rook who is claiming to be making a wrestling/grappling documentary and is looking for grapples of all sorts to be part of it. Beware, this movie is soft core pornography and has much to do with the "erotic" aspect of grappling. He misrepresented himself in his first post on NHB gear and was quickly called out and exposed. I urge you to spread the word to all of your friends involved in any kind of grappling that if they are asked to participate in this documentary they should run.

Below is a link to the thread where this came to my attention.

I also would advise that if you post on this thread or on any other about this subject you issue a disclaimer similar to mine

I do not consent to anything I have posted on this forum (on this thread or any other thread or forum) to be used by either directly or indirectly in any film or any other project.

That was years ago, just looked at the date. Has anything become of it?

Looks like it's still in production. http://www.wrestlingfilm.com/

Though it does say 2007 at the end of that homo-erotic clip.

Did a little search on Victor Rook; it would appear that he's also made another short documentary entitled "Changing Perceptions: Profile of An Openly Gay Pro Wrestler":

          http://www.amazon.com/CHANGING-PERCE...1509586&sr=1-2

He's also edited a book, "Growing Up Wrestling," which takes "a deep and intimate look at the pseudo-erotic nature of wrestling and its cult-like grip on men of all ages":

          So, um... yeah.

Freedom of speech dude. It's icky that some people get off by eroticizing wrestling (specially if the producers missrepresent themselves to fighters and MA fans). However, if consenting adults participate on it knowing full well, let them.

100% agree with you but he completely misrepresented himself when he was looking for participants. It seems to me that the people in the short clip on his sight are not aware of the way that it is being edited. If he wants to make a homo erotic movie about wrestling thats fine but if he wants to ask grapplers questions, film then and then lace it with homosexual erotic overtones that is completly wrong.

Check out the way he introduces himself on the thread. You can click on his screen name and it will bring you to his profile, scroll down then click ~show last posts.

After doing that watch the short clip here

It seems to me like Mr. Rook is already doing this; watching the trailer on his website, it would appear that some of the adult and teenage interviewees have no eroticized view of the sport, whereas the rest do. I doubt Mr. Rook was particularly forthcoming with the details and underlying themes of the documentary with some of the participants.

I hope I'm wrong, but if this is indeed the case, it's an extremely shallow, manipulative, and underhanded thing to do to wrestlers who like the sport for its own sake, not for any supposed sexual aspects. To shoehorn these people into this kind of production without their knowledge is utterly peccant and just plain wrong.
