Chris Thomas is a Dillman student and a co-author on most, if not all, of Dillman's asinine books. Here is a snip from my Dillman article where I review 4 of Dillman's books.

OldDog, does it say anywhere in the article that Thomas is a Dillman student or has been thoroughly indoctrinated by George Dillman and the "Dillman Method" for over a decade now?

If not, Black Belt and the stories it deems fit for publishing are no better than the recent report in the Daily World News of Bat Bay finding Osama Bin Laden in a Starbucks in the Adirondacks.

Really though, god damn, why are you doing this to me black belt magazine. Though I guess there's a market/magazine for everyone, why must it make me suffer so?
Oh yeah, damn this feeble brain of mine. It's the same reason there is no data on the effects of bullets on the human body.

This seems to be a chronic problem withh BB Mag. While this article may be the most recent, and one of the worse ones, a lot of the articles in BB Mag are laughable. It seems geared towards strip mall MAists.

Blackbelt Magazine has a pretty open door policy about who they gush on, and they aren't exactly known for their journalistic integrity. While they will throw Gracie on the cover or put up the 'secrets of cage fighting' every now and then, they are just as likely to put up whatever the next Native American chi master has to say. If people didn't like that then they would have gone out of business, but the fact that they still have suscribers shows that there is an audience for that sort of thing.

I read that the Loch Ness monster hasn't been seen in a long time; one explanation give was, "Global Warming"

                Fuck You Al Gore!

Back when I gave Systema a real go, I was working with a dude who tried that blow-on-you-and-you-fallover thing. I stopped trying to stab him and just stood there. It wasn't long after that...back to SAMBO

Just because people continue to read it, doesn't mean it's not crap. There have always been the outliers of normalcy in the magazine. I considered its content fairly respectable until a few years ago. I'm sure it is just a matter of marketing to the younger demographic, but that doesn't mean the whole magazine needs to be filled with this type of rubbish.

Not even. It was in the toilet in 2005 when I joined. I'd say it started going down hill in the year 2000 if not earlier.

The MMA crowd has their martial arts magazines, and the LARPers and hobbyists have BB mag. Ideally there would be a publication that did their homework and wasn't filled with bullshido, but touched on everything from full contact tournies to old martial arts history.

That is a gross over generalization.

Myself and oldman34 ridicule BB Mag, considering our styles, we are part of the target audience.

I think the ads alone qualify BB Magazine as crap. Inbetween articles on Dim Mak and rants on how sports could never prepare you for "the streets" are ads for mail order black belts, secrets to immortality, and "secret deadly arts".

Right, along with 'Kung Fu' magazine. I doubt that just because some people have a love/hate relationship with the mag that the majority of subscribers do. However CMA without the BS isn't the easiest thing to find in the world you know.

Honestly, that's when I noticed the mag was crap. As I grew up and would buy one on occasion, I became more aware of the 'This Article and It's Techniques Are For REAL!!" being right next to the ad telling me that 'I Could Kill Anyone In 5 Seconds' advertisement. "Well if that's true," I thought, "then why would I read the article. Or magazine?"

                                Bah.

I just wish there was a kickboxing magazine here in the States.
