    Don't train, don't post?

Lately a friend on BS has gone underground because he no longer trains and doesn't see himself training MA in the future (he has his reasons).

Do you believe he (or those like him) would still be a valuable part of the BS community or would you prefer to read posts from people who train MA or believe only those who train should post on this site?

I did not train for quite a few months this year but still posted bollocks on here. I don't see why not as they still have experience and so can give a contribution plus not all of the forums on here are strictly about training in martial arts anyway.

Although this is a martial arts consumer website, the various forums associated with it have differing topics thus, there's room for people not directly involved in a martial art to have a place to contribute however, I see no reason what so ever for someone not presently training, shouldn't post their opinions where ever they see fit, especially if they've previously been involved in MA and have an opinion of value to share.

Because of the often diverse opinions of what actually constitutes a "martial art" expressed here, I don't think it actually matters if a person is physically training provided they aren't proving themselves to be a total fuckwit - but let's face it, there's enough of those here anyway who are involved in martial arts.

I miss the person the OP refers too.

I agree. There are some good informed posters on this site, which makes it a valuable place to have a serious discussion.

But most of us for most of the time are just shooting the shit and talking bollocks, so why not post if you don't train anymore?

The point is you are not going to rid the liars and bullshiters from the place whether you want them gone or not, so what does it matter this thread?

I think people who once trained are still worth listening to sometime. But there are so many part time trainers or people who just wanne talk about something they know nothing about here it is kinda annoying, hence my low post tally on this site...

Of course he should still post if he wishes too.

I have no idea if Samuel Browning or lklawson currently train based on their posts, but they contribute some very good stuff. Whether or not you currently train is not relevant for every thread*

This is where the individual ideally chooses to refrain from posting however, as we know there's a lot of fucking morons here who do train and still express stupid opinions on subjects they know jack shit about, so the point is pretty much moot.

I don't see why he shouldn't post. He's got martial arts experience and therefore something to contribute. It's the people who don't/have never trained (the COMPLETELY uninformed jackasses) you've got to watch out for. Like my lazy-ass friend/neighbour who does chin-ups on the local jungle gym once a week, plays street fighter for nine hours a day religiously (thinking it to be an accurate depiction of martial arts) and won't shut up about wanting to 'spar' with me.

Thank god he doesn't own a computer or I'd be neg-repping his ass.

The person in question knows which parts of the forum are more appropriate to post on when not training and this self-imposed exile from Bullshido seems harsh.

Hopefully the above opinions of some of this site's heavyweights (in the brain department) might help him reconsider.

                      Bodi, you've been missed...

I think the last time I was this bored I was reading the Canteberry Tales while Ben Stein was talking about socio-economic ramifications of wheat products slowing down shipping to the east coast.

You were bothered about it enough to post though.

I was bored enough to post a warning.
