So you two want people who suck at jiujitsu, and that IS in fact who this thread is addressed to, to critique your tournament performance?

Oh, right, I'm actually going to answer that right now.
If you were competing at blue belt in BJJ, you are already at something like the 90th percentile where the quality of grapplers on this site is concerned. Only a few people come to mind that appear immediately qualified to critique shit, cats like UpaLumpa, JNP, Hedgehogey, RobT, and other motherfuckers with purple tags who actually like to pay attention to grappling videos.
That's like 10 useful people right there, to ask other people who have neither the expertise, nor interest to step up is silly.
Also, I believe that asking for advice and criticism on the internet is silly. What the fuck do you have coaches for? For the same reason that cats shouldn't go to throwdowns expecting lessons in basic grappling, you should be on the internet asking people to coach you. Seriously. What the fuck, man?
So, if I do participate in a throwdown video, and someone throws me some useless advice like "keep your hands up" or "throw more combos" and think they're doing me a favor, I think little of it, because I have coaches, and trying to get and react to criticism online is a terrible, terrible way to learn. That's actually worse than trying to get basic lessons at a throwdown, actually.
Stop yakking about bullshit and go talk to your fucking coaches.

Where's the persecution? I feel left out.
Also, I just assume you're better than I am, since you're a purple belt, whereas I ... am not. I don't even wear a belt actually. Fuck belts. Belts are for faggots and termites.
Also, I find it quite amusing that Hedge can get so many people worked up. Even semi-pro trolls like The Question fall before Hedge's warped analogies.

That...actually made sense. Who are you and what have you done with the real Question?!? Some may accuse me of hypocrisy, since there are a couple of threads in the grappling forum where I plead for assistance on various topics, but this is because I train at a Gracie Academy where the solution to all problems is a collar choke, and if I were to ask my teacher there about leg locks, sweeps from half guard, or the Rubber Guard flames will shoot out of the giant portrait of Helio and burn me to cinders.
Also, if HH wants to play "Let's Compare Phallic Looking Numbered Lists of Accomplishments"
*3rd place Point Sparring, White Belt Division, He Young Kimm Cup, Co-Linn Community College
*2nd place, Gi Grappling White Belt Division, "Battle of South Mississippi"
*1st place, Point sparring, "Battle of South Missisippi"
*Bronze medal winner, Absolute Intermediate Division, Shoothook Submission Tournament (07)
*2nd place, Gi Grappling White Belt Division, Southern Showdown
*1st place, Point Sparring, Southern Showdown
*3rd place, no Gi Grappling, HW Division, Southern Showdown
*1st place, White Belt LHW Division, Tennessee Brazlian Jiu Jitsu and Sub Wrestling Championships, BJJ
*3rd place, Beginner LHW Division, Tennessee Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Sub Wrestling Tournament, Sub Wrestling.
*3rd place, Intermediate LHW Division, Shoothook Submission Tournament (08)
*3rd place, Intermediate Absolute Division, Shoothook Submission Wrestling Tournament (08)

The moment of shock you get from someone laughing in your face is often the impetus you need to realize "Hey, this is bullshit!".
I'll give you this: None of your sparring has been the kind I have a problem with.

Wait, so... since I'm not very good at striking and my grappling skills are terrible, does this mean that I am essentially not welcome to participate in Bullshido Throwdowns? If that's the case, could I theoretically just come and watch, or would my very presence be frowned upon?
I'm being serious here, I wouldn't want to participate in a throwdown if it means that I'm going to spoil the fun by slowing everyone down with my beginner-level performance; I would consider it very rude of me to do so. Believe it or not, I really don't like stepping on people's toes (both literally and figuratively).

I like Osiris' point. If you come to a TD to learn a skill set you don't have, you're missing the point. If you come to assess your skills in any given area, or to hang out with your local Bullies, then more power to you.
Besides, I don't think it's a bad idea to have clusters of bullies across the nation (nay, the world!) that get together for a little sparring and a maybe a bite or drink afterwards.
I think Hedge and co. are mostly horrified that the TD's might turn into MAP meets, but as long as somebody gets hit in the face at a TD, Bullshido will be secure in its' martial supremacy. snicker.

I'm afraid you have vastly underestimated our conceit.Shut the hell up and train.

jnp, I certainly wouldn't want to attend a throwdown to "learn a skill set I don't have"... that would be a real dick move on my part. I apologize if my post seemed to indicate that that was my intention... believe me, I'm not going to go around saying "hai guyz can u teach me anaconda choke, lol."
However, I wouldn't want to be in a situation where I go to a throwdown and the only people there are BJJ blue belts and/or moderately skilled Muay Thai practitioners. In that respect, I would be utterly useless as a sparring partner and would be better off just walking out the door. I get the feeling that even though the presense of a n00b like me at a throwdown would be tolerated, it would hardly be welcome.

Fuck the BJJihad. If Hedge has a problem with this, he can take it up with me. Understand?
Now for god's sake man, grow an e-pair.Shut the hell up and train.

Goddammit. Note to self: stop screwing up and being such a pussy all the time, it makes BJJ purple belts mad. Never make BJJ purple belts mad. Ever.
On another note, I'm not trying to insinuate that there's some kind of "BJJihad," or that I have any sort of problem with anything Hedge has said. Everything's cool with me.
