    Your first loss. (Drunken Boxing don't work)

    So I was pretty buzzed. dancing at the club with my friends.
    Then a fight breaks out. and then I see a guy taking a swing at a girl.
    I pull his arm back. and then step back telling him I don't want to fight.
    even holding at the peace sign.

    He charges. and everything is a blur after that. I duck his first punch. and go for a takedown except I'm fucking still buzzed. and I don't get my legs based properly.
    I end up fucking cluthcing his leg . eventually sweeping it for a single leg takedown
    all the while he's punching like a girl on the top of my head with weak hammerfists.
    I get off of him and he hits me in the eye and gives me a cut. at this point my friends step in and the girl i was dancing with was like "that's my brother"

    I'm not even sure if I connected with any strikes when he charged in. I'm not sure what happened. It was a adrenaline blur. My reaction was delayed cuz i was drunk but that's not an excuse. It's just what happened.

    so I pause and stop. but still angry as hell.
    I'm not sorry but I'm still angry.

    Not so much at him for hitting me

    but at myself for fucking getting cut like that and looking fucking pathetic.

    Seriously.

    I'm not gonna justify holding him back (apparently it was his ex-girlfriend he was going to hit) because it's just my nature. I don't think hitting girls for any reason is right.

    I'm pissed at myself for such a fucking sorry example I made of myself.

    It's given me motivation to start training 4 days a week again.

    Sometimes defeat is good.
    Reminds you complacency only gets your ass kicked.

    //must train harder
    ///Yes you can talk shit about me now.

    You could try drinking half as much and training the same amount.

    Or maybe training drunk.

      Why didn't you break a leg off a bar stool and smash his ulna?

          because I was on the dance floor.
          otherwise than that.
          I can't answer any "why didn't I do this or that"
          It was a blur. he charged. I tried for a takedown. but didn't do it properly.
          i held on to his one leg hard. trying to get my bearings. He was vainly hitting me with hammer fists. (I didn't feel them. so either he hit like a girl or I was that drunk).

          I finally collected myself enough to sweep him. then I looked up and got hit in the eye.
          resulting in a cut. I stepped off and stood back up waiting to engage him again when the girls intervened and when one of em said "that's my brother" I paused and hesitated and let them walk me away.

          doesn't matter though. I got cut. which would count as a loss. Even if I had stayed on and gotten fulll mount for G&P. He was rolling much deeper than me. I would have lost no matter what

          so I count it as a pathetic loss for myself.
          but it's good. I had lost my motivation to train in the last two weeks.
          now I have something to hold onto and keep me driven.

          //even though I lost.
          ///goddammit.

            Variance, take it from me on this one. You did not lose. A guy swung at a girl, and you stepped in. You won, period.

            You could have got your ass handed to you and pissed your pants, and you would have won. The bitch that swung on the girl lost.

            Fighting is not who scored the most points. Its why you are fighting, and when you fight. This was not a game, you did the right thing. You won.

              Don't be so hard on yourself man. You got the takedown and prevented the guy from punching a girl. So what if you got hit? Even the best in the world get hit, of course you'll take a few in a brawl. But yeah, train harder is always a good plan.

                Note to OP

                If you see a man take a swing at a girl, don't try and be reasonable.

                Otherwise you did the right thing.

                  Yeah, good job on stepping in on that one. Too often people look the other way or respond late to that type of situation. I'm impressed that you took the initiative.

                      Train drunk, if you're going to fight drunk.

                      You fight how you train... if you're going to get into fights whilst drunk, you need to train whilst drunk.

                      Normalisation, doncherknow...

                        + rep for standing by your convictions and helping out a girl in trouble.
                        Also you took on somebody in an uncontrolled environment, your goal was to stop this prick from hitting a girl and you achieved that.

                          Good job, variance. If only the woman who was about to be struck had rushed to your aid and cuddled your injured brow to her heaving bosom you likely would have felt better about your initiative.
