Double post because edit seems to be broken at the moment. What I meant to say was: Whether to be offended or not is a choice you can make.

While I am not a pastor I have to ask where in the Bible it talks about sport fighting being OK?Most of what the old testament talks about is fighting wars against other nations and how if God is with you you can't lose. Jesus speaks of turning the other cheek. Further history speaks of Christians not fighting for the Romans in the Coliseum. In my humble recollection it speaks of fighting for your ideas and values and to defend yourself from enemies.
Fighting for sport is a selfish act onto itself. You are pitting yourself and your training against the abilities of another human. In MMA or BJJ or Judo you force your opponent to submit. For all practical matters you are imposing yourself onto him and forcing him to quit. Fighting for the sheer enjoyment of fighting is also a very none religious or righteous act. So my next question is what part of sport fighting follows the Christian faith? Remember now that the old testament is Jewish stories and laws, the Tora, and the new testament is about Christianity.
If faith in Jesus, God, Alla, or Budda was the predominant skill needed to win a fight then why would you train the physical body when the mental one is sufficient to win?
One last question. What would Jesus think if he saw two men fighting in a cage? Regardless of why they was fighting. I am talking about 2 men in a cage entertaining an audience.
I ask these questions in the utmost of sincerity. I am quite frankly not understanding how religion and fighting for sport go hand in hand. The justification for fighting for money is understandable. The justification of fighting to prove your abilities are worthwhile is understandable. The justification to prove something to yourself is understandable. Self defense goes without saying. Training to stay in shape and being able to defend yourself and family I get. The Lord needs warriors as well as followers. Someone has to stand up and defend the weak or protect the flock from wolves.
