Dammit this is the best thread. One of the reasons I like it so much is that I know this guy. No, not the actual guy, but every Dojo, Kwoon or Dojang had at least one guy like this. I started at a TKD school in the '70s (yes I am old) and I remember listening to my friend who brought me there explain why it was superior to all other MAs. The only reason I never fell into this trap was because I would fight with my friends constantly and was convinced that TKD was minimally effective at best. I remember asking my instructor how to handle wrestlers once the fight hit the ground. He looked at me like I was retarded and asked me why I "allowed" the fight to go to the ground. Awesome.

Bang on. I was one of these people - but only for a couple of months. Thankfully I learned, mainly through Bullshido and through minimal brain power.

On the website of my old club, it tells you why they don't spar. Do you know what the first sentence in their answer is? "Because it hurts." No joke. The site went down a couple of weeks ago, but if its ever up again, I'll show you.
