Do you know he did WC though?

Otherwise you'll get people saying that he "wasn't doing the technique right" and how 1337 and deadly it is when pulled off by a chun'er.

Birmingham.. It's got it's good bits, but yeah, it's pretty grim for the most part.

This is true, though it is a sizeable subset of Western societies, to be fair. It also includes groups such as the mentally deficient, old people, children, blind people, blind drunk people and unconscious people, most of whom will indeed be overwhelmed by the deluge of shitty punches.

Agreed. While you may be keeping their hands occupied, there's nothing to stop someone kicking or kneeing you while you're batting against their guard.

You can strike a lot harder with other types of punch but chain punches are great for overwhelming an opponent

    1) You get at least 6" more range from a jab or cross than from chainpunches.

    2) The _ing _un wu sao/man sao guard is useless for protecting your head.

    3) While you are doing your stupid arrow-walk, anyone with any standup sparring experience will offline and... Guess what? That's right! Punch you in the face.

There's a dojo near Boston, called Don McDonalds....I shit you not. I saw it on the busride to the studio (yeah, I roll like that) Don't know if it's a mcdojo, but if it were...it would be priceless. I don't know if I'll drop in for a class....I'm not sure I could keep a straight face.

I'm tainted from too much exposure to bullshido language.

Mark the calendar and make sure to visit the same karate dojo in exactly 15 years to see whether they learned to defend themselves... On camera, please. Thanx.

Things don't become dangerous as people grow up any more, it just is dangerous. There's no real time for those of us in the city, to hope to one day kick a little ass. That's why I took kickboxing, it sucks getting hit, but it's not worth finding out too late, that I suck (well, I do suck, but at least I know it now)

A chun straight punch has its place, but it is definately not better than a boxers punch (or a boxer who knows what they are doing).
I like chun punches for close range attacks, but generally I use palm strikes or elbows (if the fight has got that far)

I think that there are people who don't enjoy training hard like boxers do (maybe because they are too old, or don't have the time etc), but want to do an art that is fairly easy but still useful in a fight

You might like them, but they will get you punched in the face.

Furthermore I would suggest, on the basis of that post, that you don't "know" any punches at all, in any meaningful sense.

Some of them were out of bad luck, some of them were going through a bad neighbourhood, some were doing things like texting in the middle of a dark street, and the rest is probably because I'm a chunner and all the muggers hate chunners.....
damn man, sorry to hear people feel so entitled as to get down on you like that. I put fools in their place a few times a week....but it helps when you've got a guitar in hand. I'd say about 28 hours a week (roughly four hours/day), I'm out in public, sitting there, doing my thing... tempting fate....not the quietest or least confrontational occupation...but it keeps me on my toes...and I crave the attention.

I don't look that tall, sitting there, until I get up...so I get fucked with a good bit, but always take over the situation, quick like.
It rarely goes past me getting up, and puffing up...and berating them in front of everyone...finally telling them to "fuck off down there" before I knock them out and drag them by their hair, to the police box down the way for a lock up. I guess I get red, and really agitated....I've never been able to get just a little pissed.

Scares the shit out of some of my regulars...but keeps me safe and sound...and from having to actually drag some schmuck by his hair. I've yet to have someone take me up on my offer, in 7 years of this. Compared to teh str33t, clubs and bars are tame as can be.
