Butterfly style Kempo is no joke!!!!!

    Q. Ever heard of Grandmaster Dennis Decker?

    A. Well you should have because he's "He is renowned throughout the Martial Arts community as one of the top martial artists to have ever lived.". He's dead now but his style lives on!

And he hasn't created just one new style; that would be too normal for a "Great Grandmaster".... he was two:

    1) Chi Lin Kempo http://www.chilinkenpo.com/clk.htm

    2) Chi Lin Pai Gung Fu http://www.gungfuonline.com/ http://www.chi-lin.net/

And whilst most grandmaster are content with say 5 animals, Great Grandmaster Decker had 15:

    1. Tiger
    2. Leopard
    3. Eagle
    4. Dragon
    5. Monkey
    6. Crane
    7. Mantis
    8. Butterfly
    9. Snake
    10. Lion
    11. Bear
    12. Phoenix
    13. Falcon
    14.Unicorn
    15. Horsey

    Butterfly

This style is one of the hidden animal systems within Chi Ling Pai.

Many of the techniques are in other styles as well but are rarely shown.

The butterfly fighting techniques were designed for fighting while handcuffed or restrained.

Butterfly Techniques usually have the palms crossed at the wrists and can work into head and neck manipulations.

Elongated Butterfly extends the lead arm and places the rear palm up on the forearm where it can slide off assisting the front hand in attack and defense.

Strikes mostly involve palms and punches.

In Chi Ling Pai Gung Fu, techniques like Butterfly and Elongated Butterfly are basics in the system. The style also has a Butterfly Form.

Some of their forms are good for learning principles, building power and stability, cardio workout and for a warmup.

There should be a limit on how many threads someone can start per month.

*done in the style of William Shatner* You...have got...to be kidding! I........can't believe........this is serious!

I couldn't watch much past the little menu and the advert for the "basics", but did anyone else notice the gheyness of the waving and weaving bodies pose in the beginning when all the students were shown? Like a slither dance or some such. And how sloppy was that foot positioning! Seriously, Kung Fu is worthless enough without sloppy footwork and punching. The guy nearly fell off that huge rock, for fuck's sake.

But being secure enough in your manhood to use "Butterfly" forms...now that takes a high level of d34dly. I rate this a 5.5 on teh d34dly scale. Woulda got a six, but they didn't have a "Platypus" form.

It's not all gh3y. For instance, the bit at the beginning where they are doing the "wheels on the bus" is basically an uppercut, but the movements are exaggerated in order to hone the principle in the muscle memory.

Sounds good, but did anyone see any palms crossed movements in that entire video? I wouldnt mind learning some techniques designed for restrained self defense, but I didnt see anything that even came close to resembling that in that.

Wrong. Protecting yourself while restrained is easy.
See....you and your wife should have a "safe" word
that is a signal to ease up on the spike heels to the
back and jumper cables to the man-nipples.

At lease that's what my grandparents always showed
                          us kids.

I don't see what the problem is. Combine it with some sparring and it's probably a decent art. Is it the fault of the art if the students don't spar?
