I first encountered Bullshido at an Interweb casino in Upper Northwest Laos after escaping the island of Gong-du.

I had previously been in a top secret no-holds-barred deathmatch martial arts tournament at the island. I had just won the tournament in the fastest time possible, beating 15 opponents at once for the semifinal match (with seven fatalities!). The emperor Mong was upset that I had shattered the record of his best fighter Jango-Thai and ripped his throat out with an Eagle claw strike, so he assigned a troupe of Ninja demons to hunt me down. That's why I fled to Laos.

Luckily in Laos I had many friends due to my 500-0 (with 500 wins by KO) record in Maui Tai Kickboxing. They hid me at the Interweb cafe and I searched for likeminded individuals and found Bullshido.

After beating Chuck Norris and Rampage St. Pierre in the UFC BJJ tournament I decided that winning the heavyweight belt wasn't good enough. I had to share the secrets of Kwang Gon Do Karate to sports fighters to show them how much better the lethal techniques worked than wrestling moves like armlocks.

    or

I had high cholesterol - did extensive Google-fu for martial arts information - found Bullshido - found that the method of working out I enjoyed the most was blocking punches with my face and tapping mats.

Um, you do know that there are several options available to you here in River City. There's the cleverly named "Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Spokane" (www.bjjspokane.com). TKO Fighting Arts (www.tkokickboxing.com) runs an MMA and kickboxing program. The Spokane Boxing Club has a fledgling MT and MMA club. And there's a couple good (and cheap) Judo Clubs including the Pacific Judo Club and the Spokane Judo Club.
i'll rephrase that. i prayed for a club to open within twenty minutes of my house. all thoes places are about half an hour away. needs to be in spokane valley or liberty lake, the only places there are tkd and krotty.

Ashida Kim drew me... Coda Scott sold me... JFS/AnnaTrocity/Omar drama made me a sponser...

plus any place that hates ATA Taekwondo is a place I can call home

Sorry, but that sounds like a lame excuse. First of all, depending on how far out in the valley you are, I'd bet at least a couple of those places are at a reasonable distance. Spokane Judo is on the South Hill and Spokane Boxing is on Sprague. But even if they are a bit of a drive (shoot, man, I live way out in Medical Lake!) what are you expecting? A jits school on every corner?

Look, man, I've had reasons for not training in the past. Money. Family issues. Etc. But I've seen you post in several threads how much you really want to train, but just can't (oh the horror!) because there is NO PLACE decent in Spokane. That is patently false. If you don't want to truck a couple miles down I90 to get to a place, that's up to you. But stop trying to make it sound like you have this strong desire to train if only you could find a place.

I was either researching information on Frank Dux and/or Gene Simco and the stench of BS that lingered around them. If I remember correctly, I googled Frank Dux and happened across the huge Bullshido article about him and read it from top to bottom at work. It was on an archive page and I decided to go to the main site that brought forth such an eye opening article. Once I read the Grappling/Groundfighting and Phil Elmore FAQs, I knew I was home.

I wanted to meet chicks. And go to throwdowns (If there is ever one held within four hours driving distance of where I live.)

I'm sorry Vince. To meet chicks you need to go directly to MAP's Aikido section.

How does that work? I'm guessing I rent out a gym or dojo, pile up some mats, pay for insurance, and then post COME TO MISSISSIPPI THROWDOWN on every thread in here, is there anything I am missing?

Akido chicks...yuck! They have O-Sensei cooties.

Agreed on Frank Dux. I had Bullshido recommended by MA colleagues (Trad JJ and also Ba Gua) and was gobsmacked by the detailed and qualitative investigation of Dux. It amazed me hence I explored more but that was it. How did he get away with it? Well, I suppose if you tell a big enough lie...etc..

Spartacus' contributions on the Aikido chappie and also Kevin O'Connor were also eye-openers.

The pluses continue(d) with tremendous info on a range on subjects with contributors who seem to possess enormous knowledge. The only downside is the occasional dismissive by a poster whom I've either suspected of being 13 years old (a colleague and club runner once got an email enquiring about learning JJ; the enquirer's email address was "jujitsumaster" and he was 13 years etc) or being Drunk (remarkably, one such poster later owned up to this).

                        Frank Dux. FFS.

Anyway, thanks and more power to yer elbow.

On one of the other forums I used to hang out on, there were plenty of guys who would always show stories they had on Bullshido. One day, I decided to look at the site. I liked what I saw. I really liked the idea of throwdowns (even though there aren't many that are organized within a distance I can reach (until I become 18 or I move to a different place, and even if I somehow organize it, I doubt that many people would be able to come). Even though I probably won't become popular like some of the members on this forum (I lack the sense of humor that they have unfortunatly), I can tell I'm going to definatly like it here

I'm going to assume you have a decent income. At seventeen I have shit for income no money to pay gas and paying for 95$ per month. I have two savings, ones for college and the other is to be able to pay advanced for a year at AMC Pankration which is about 83$ per month. In that time I'll afford it. If by this time next year I haven't gotten signed up at any place feel free to flame me non-stop.

As to the story, at the time that this did happen when I was searching for a place to train I searched idiotically (i.e. internet directories). Times and circumstances have changed.

Well, let me again put in my recomendation for solid grappling skills at the two local Judo clubs. You do have to pony up 50$ for a USJA membership, but after that it's a ridiculously low $15 a month.

And dude, if you're still in High School you should be freaking wrestling!!!! Fantastic training, including a fantastic base for MMA, that is FREE with lots of competition. In fact, if money and transportation are an issue, I see no reason why you'd need to focus on anything other than wrestling right now. Damn, kid, take advantage of these HS years and get GOOD!
