I think online message boards is a good way to stay in touch with whatever subject the boards are related to. So when I started MA (first in a Bullshido krotty place) I searched "Martial Arts forums" on google and MAP came up. I was on there for a few weeks and I discovered a thread about this evil, vile place called Bullshido. After I checked this place out, I moved over and never looked back.

i was on MAP, looking for other people who did TKD to discuss stuff with them. i'll admit i still had a slightly different view of martial arts initially when i started lurking there, but whatever.
they did strike me as overly polite, and the forums tended to revolve around "cool flying kick pictures" more than anything else. then i discovered they all sucked. it dawned on me when i did this post, which them became featured here on bullshido, during the TKD sucks month:

a) even if i sucked, it doesn't take away that they suck as well.
b) fuck you, they suck, and i'm free to say it, whether or not you like it.
so i decided to take a look on the "meanies at bullshido" they kept mentioning. and here i am.
you guys are funnier anyways.

I came on here as a distraction from work and lurked for ages, reading about Ashida Kim etc and having a good laugh.
By the time I registered, I no longer thought my takedown defence of a knee to the face or an elbow to the back of the neck was as reliable as I was told.

I can't remember how I found about the site, but I loved it and agreed with the general anti-fraud philosophy, as I have always been a skeptic and lurker and admirer of the work of groups like the JREF. There was the training methods thing; I was doing t3h ninj3r at the time and initially I didn't have the guts to come and defend the rubbish I used to believe in, basically because the logic of sparring and active resistance was impeccable.
This site encouraged me to seek out some sparring, which led me to seek out shooto and BJJ, which led me to conclude that ninjerism sucks which led me to where I am now.

(And Repulsive Monkey said it was a great place to meet girls.)
If I didn't have to travel 75 minutes by TTC I'd come visit sometime.

I was thinking about taking up MA again, after four years' out from training. I was interested in Systema, as I'd had some good experiences with it before and didn't want to go back to what I was doing previously. Up popped a number of threads here.
Stayed to read some investigations, and the Ashida Kim and Frank Dux sagas, laughed a lot and registered.
