Leung Ting, 11th level Grandmaster of his own wingy chungy system, runs his business rather like Ron L Hubbard, as does his German lapdog Professor Keith Kernspecht (10th degree).
It is easy to imagine Professor Leung saying "If you want to make a million HK dollars, start a martial art!" (though I am in no measure alleging that he actually said that).
Here are some striking similarities between Wing Tsun and Scientology:
1. The whole organisation is built on learning esoteric and totally unfounded ideas, none of which are based on fact.
2. The organisation exists for the enrichment of its founders, and money flows from the bottom up to forward that goal.
3. To progress in the organisation, one must spend more and more money.
4. Criticizing the Organization results in extreme defensive reactions from its members.
5. Members display symptoms of being indoctrinated in a cult, such as all wearing the same silly uniform, and talking about the head of the Organization as if he was a god.
6. Members develop an inability to recognize a logical argument based on fact.
7. Senior members have delusions of Enlightenment and grandeur.
8. The heads of the Organization have collections of expensive sports cars (Actually I don't know about Scientologist preachers but Grandmaster Kernspecht certainly has a few).
9. Members are promised they can attain the unattainable.
10. Members constantly try to recruit new gullible people into thecult Organization.
11. The highest levels of attainment in the Organization have very silly titles. (Compare: Master of Almightiness; 7th level Operating Thetan)
I'm sure there are many more, feel free to add your own.
Edit: wrong currency
