New Systema seminar video. Is it realistic?

What do you all think of this?

It looks to me like the first opponent was being extremely compliant. I don't think you can pull off those kind of effortless moves unless the guy assists you.

And the guy fighting three opponents together looks very compliant as well.

I think this doesn't belong in the MMA forum.

OK, the "opponent" in this video seems to be extreeeeeeeeeeemely compliant. I don't think any of that effortless stuff the instructor was doing would work against someone who wasn't taking falls.

Also not impressed with the fighting against 3 guys. Why do the attackers always do that big lunging off-balanced front kick?

But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past."

I enjoyed watching the fist fighting stuff and from the picture of the bruises they make solid contact even without gloves on. I would have liked to see the kickers use more than a stomping kick. I wonder is that some sort of systema kick and that is why they spend so much time practicing against it?

Oh jebus.. here we go again... this'll get messy in 5..4..3..

maddog - I don't think there is such a thing as a "systema kick" - I think that it's your basic front thrust kick : mae geri (spelling?).

I think the clip is showing a fairly simple mechanism for dealing with that kind of kick - the multiple attackers exercise seems to be an exercise in movement (defender's movement and using the attackers' momentum against them, as well as using the number of attackers to your advantage - getting in each others way) and a way to increase the pressure on the defender, rather than a "how to deal with multiple attackers" exercise.

Oh and answer to OP's question - is it realistic?
It's realistic footage of a systema seminar. Are the attacks realistic? No they're compliant attacks used for demonstration purposes. Would the defences stand up against real attacks? Who knows? It would depend on the situation - an mma bout? no frickin' way A simple, straight line attack by an untrained (poorly trained) attacker - i would have thought so.

But it's the same old questions - same old answers - same old systema merry go round

Well to be fair. They were actually hitting and trying to hit eachother in the face, so it least it's more likely to work under pressure than alot of other so called BS styles.

That bald guy has a hard-on from all the adoring wimps in that circle-jerk.

Infact circle jerk implies more realism than is deserved for this POS clip - systema is still a joke.

Please don't use the words "systema" and "realistic" in a sentence again.
