    Help me with this investigation

It's soooo secret that I'm posting it on a public forum...

ever noticed just how many martial arts instructors claim association with LE or special forces?

This is part of a possible article on that quirk of MA. Basically an exercise to log just how many martial artists claim that. Maybe if we demonstrated to the average consumer just how many martial artists make these claims then they might be better able to sniff the bullshit when their aikido instructor hints about his exploits with SEAL teams. Here's a starting point:

    So I need:

    Name of person making claim:
    special Forces organisation(s) claimed:
Whether the claim relates to being a member of, teaching or is unclear.
    URL if possible.
Screenshot or pictures if you feel they add value.

Note: This exercise in itself does not aim to seperate the genuine claims from the bullshit, merely demonstrate the implausiblity that everyone is telling the truth. Cos if they were, the SEALs wouldn't ever have time for firearms training cos they've got a queue of martial artists to get through first.

Ugh, what a nightmare. What's the point of the vertical axis? Why the colored boxes, etc? Why not just make a straight up list?

I agree sorting through the tons of info and coming up with a format that is easily referenced and catches the eye while presenting large amounts of data is a nightmare .

Especially when the point is to prove how improbable it is for them all to be telling the truth .

Cheers, I've added him to the SEAL list. Interestingly he only seems to claim to have been a member, his site doesn't seem to imply he actually taught them MA(?).

Kelly Worden did train the SF folks on Fort Lewis for quite a long time. I'm not sure if he's still doing it, as I'm neither in SF nor one of Kelly's students (watched one of the classes taught by one of his junior/subordinate instructors, and wasn't all that impressed), but I can verify that he did at one time train them.

Yep. I'll change the colour on his tag to "instructed" - the list includes genuine, exagerated and blatantly false claims pretty much evenly - any details on the genuinity of claims will have to be a seperate part of any article* where I suppose Woden's claim will be supported as legit.

I laugh as well when I read Special Forces as a resume add.

Are the SEALS in shape? Hell yeah they are. But they are just like any other guy when fighting. When I was in the USMC, a few from my platoon (Comm Co.) got into a fight with the SEAL team on our boat at a beer tent on night. Details on the how and why are unimportant. They got pounded by lil ole Comm Co guys.

                  So gangbangers+alcoholics+thugs > SEAL team

After that exchange, Special Forces hand-to-hand lost any mystique it once might have had.

Ahhh, our friends at TRS. Added quite a few more claims from their stable of mostly bullshitters. I now have 40+ claims, mostly US Spec Ops.

Keep them coming, if we can get to 100....

BTw is TRS on the target list for a "review of specific false claims"? there are sooo many blatantly false claims there some of which I'm sure could be easily disproven. Several surround BJJ etc also.

Was an Air Force Intel/Comms weenie, knew losta of USMC grunts. Man, can those guys drink, fight, and drink and fight at the same time.

Heard many stories about Devil dogs laughing at SF (Army) and Seals (Navy). Special training? Hell, the SF/SEALS training is the normal training for the USMC!

Yeah great, let's increase the public perception that the military are by definition hardcore unarmed fighters. :icon_puke
