Hi. You are reading an archive of the legendary Bullshido forums, from 2002-2020. Please visit our NEW and (arguably) improved forums at https://forums.bullshido.net.
(Or don't, this is just an announcement and nobody's holding a gun to your head.)
What if people stops speculating and start to seriously investigate?
The things i posted only took me 15' googleing. Chunners spend more time and effort in lineage wars than looking for facts (technical and historical) about the style.

Imho, of course. :P
LOL. Spoken like Aikido is so much more unified in this respect. It's part of human nature, IMO.
There is no question in my mind the 'nun-who-must-not-be-named' style is too big for its britches. But that's because Bruce Lee didn't study Aikido.
BTW, how does a person do 15 feet of Googling?
Calm down, it's only ones and zeros.

There are people who have speculated for decades the 'nun-who-must-not-be-named' style was either influenced or derived from the fistacuffs brought to southern China's port cities by the English when trade opened up.
I can't say I agree with them, but I have not bothered to examine and cross check their theories and references, either.
This is not unreasonable at all.
I'd say it's even more plausible that the Ng Mui theory :)
For some strange reason people think that chinese MA styles are all set in stone. Discovered through a revelation, put down on scrolls, done.
But it's a different topic, and it is really irrelevant to the question why is there no _ing _un in MMA, or why is it not doing very good in MMA.
I thought it was common knowledge that Felix Trinidad was trained by the 11th Level Master of Comprehension.

Notice that the Google search says "Google" on the first page, then it says "Gooooooooogle" on the bottom of the page, and as you scroll the pages it gets longer and longer..."Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooogle"
When you reach 15' of Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooogle, yopu can be sure that you've got most of the existing information on the topic and are allowed to make conclusions. Anything with less that 15' of Goooooooooogle is a speculation.
What made this walking heart attack believe she was in any state to get into the ring?
That's a good question.

What's this theory that wing chun has that people think is good?
Should I bother answering this question when you know the answer and are obviously trolling? Still, you knew I would. Because I am a chunner (TM)... :icon_lol:
So, baby, here we go, just several theory bits:
1./ aggressive, straightforward fighting approach
2./ defense and attack exercised simultaneously or with a single movement, in flowing, non-stop series
3./ technique over muscling
4./ no squaring off forces with the opponent, evading/using his incoming energy
5./ following of the opponent
6./ no wide, open movements
7./ low, stomping kicks
8./ use of elbow and knee strikes
And if you say none of these is WT specific - that was not the question... :5umbrella
