I guess being able to deliver strong and stable stamp-type kicks could do the same. I'll try stuff out when I get the chance.

Even though it wasn't from Wing Chun, there's some clips of Vitor Belfor straight blasting people

Now look carefully what they have added to their training, and what they have abandoned.

_ing _un works great when you take away all the _ing _un and replace it with MMA.

In all seriousness, some of the chi-sau stuff helps when you get mounted - probably since the position is relatively static. Of course, regular _ing _unners can't use that since they would spazz on the bottom and forget to flow like water.

Calling jab/cross x infinity a "straight blast" is retarded

I guess technically if you are running straight at your target ... you wouldn't be throwing jab/cross because the foot work would be completely different .

Kinda like REVERSE PUNCH =/= cross

It also helps a little in pummelling for hooks, though I'm not sure that alone justifies years of LARPing.

It might be a sloppy jab cross, but it's still a jab cross.

                  Straight blast-ish then

You know what my point was so don't be goofy about it

well, if vitor is running at him, and putting power in every punch, chances are he's probably throwing his rear hand after/as he steps every time, making it a cross, cross, cross, cross x infinity....no?

                      That is correct.
But it is their statement that they have adopted at least some _ing _un principles so you need to go argue it out with them.

I hope it had nothing to do with Wing Chun in MMA.

That is exactly what you see when you watch Belfort - Silva, Vanderlei's first UFC fight. I guess technically you could call it "straight blast".

That is how a chain punch is supposed to work, to daze the opponent for a moment and open him up for other stuff.

Ironically, a BJJ dude had to come and do correct _ing _un in the UFC. :))

My point is that WC and Vitor seem to share the same belief in the effectiveness of over whelming someone with forward movement and quick straight on punches. Yes WC does it in a goofy looking manner which I doubt (very much) would work in MMA but as they are found of saying "the principles there"

And therefore if someone had a WC base and bought into the MMA philosophy there's no reason why they couldn't cross train in boxing or what ever to make the principle work in MMA

And no it wouldn't be Wing Chun any more. And they yes they would have to come up with a new name like WinJitsu.net

Yeah, him and about 3/4ths of amateur fighters. It's probably one of the most commonly used tactics among... non technical strikers.
