Okay one more time...... (Deep Breath)

I said I fight..... I said I also spar.... (circuit competition - "When In Rome...")
and did semi- contact - nothing to do with the Afrikan Discipline Sciences since much of what I would use on the street in conjunction with the Afrikan Disciplines would not gel in the sport competitive arena. Injury and death is not a demonstration of power or victory. I had to learn this dsicipline personally....

When there is a need to save a life through defense......I fight with external and internal skills. I teach urban women's survival (public housing residents) and culture isn't the focal point there either. Large cask iron skillets are......

I have watched the evolution of sparring.... (Have pictures of me when there was no gear) and feel that it is where it is suppose to be for those who want to do it. When I sparred, there was alot less "kill 'em" and more technique.... We all then went out an enjoyed a few drinks.... (Spent several years overseas in Europe.)

Are you in your prime right now? It is a great feeling isn't it......! Enjoy it while it lasts... My experience in the martial arts has been incredible....I have met so many wonderful people who are skillled tactians but you would not know it until they have introduced you to their (fill in the object of choice to inflict the most damage.....LOL)

A question of wisdom.... "Is it better to be feared or respected? Interestly enough most people see fear and respect as the same... Until the power of the person is gone....I guess it is.

I think you'll find the ocean was the birthplace of all life, but thanks for playing.

Except of course if you're some kind of weird creationist, in which case all life originated in the Garden of Eden, which is near Mesopotamia, also not Africa.

              Quit being so condescending.
No one cares how old you are.
This place is for evaluating the effectiveness of Martial Arts.
If you want to stop instructors from preying on their students go to the authorities.

Seriously I realize you are older than us but that does not mean you get automatic respect.
If I was 100 and told you to jump off a cliff would you abide by my wisdom? No you'd tell me to go hump a doorknob!!

              Iscariot wins the thread.

If a person with 100 years of existance told me to jump off a cliff (knowing the ancient honor codes that I have studied in the AFrikan Sciences) - I would jump. And what would you do? Tell the Elder to go "hump a door knob". What if right below that cliff edge was a ledge that would save you from the sudden death of a rolling vehicle. Not always is there time to explain......

I have been waiting for the correct time to use this quote......
"Your Elders have forgotten more than you will ever know. May the Creator and the Ancestors grant you life long enough to understand these words".

                Peace

Just because someone is old doesn't mean they are wise. It just means they aren't dead yet. Yes I would tell them to go hump a doorknob. There might be a ledge that saves my life but there is also the possibility that there isn't one. Besides you are warping my statement. I mentioned nothing about a rolling vehicle. We could argue theoretical situations all day. If I out of the blue told you to jump would you do it just because I'm older? Blind faith in someone just because they are older is plain stupid.

Nice quote. It's almost profound. Wait there is one problem. Ah yes condescension and circular logic. Besides I think Science proves that we will always learn more than our elders will ever forget.

I always love this quote. It is supposed to smite the supposed unworthy.

Well, if you forget your wisdom then you have no business telling me anything. It is one of those respect me for my accolades not for the person I am now.

                      Sorry that is crap.

Let's take Ali one of the greatest boxers in recent history. Think of all the accolades from standing up for his rights to making million dollar purses a reality. Wow, can't say anything bad about the man.

Yet, where he is now I wouldn't let him be my coach. So, they may have forget more than I know but really that makes us equals.

                      Chew on that for awhile.

Tell him to command that this noob jump. If the noob says "How High?" then tell the noob to rob a bank and deposit all the cash in my bank account. After all according to the honour codes the noob has to do what he says.

But like the ole saying goes....."just do it one bite at a time".....

Afrikan..............I am refering to the continent and said cultures and societies that were the birthplace of all life.... This is a scientific fact so I will not debate it.

Discipline..........I have posted in the other catagories in regard to protecting our community members from fraud etc.... Now my area of passion is that we who are in positions of power must make an extra effort to remain morale/disciplined in the arts. I am not perfect but I have a problem with insturctors who flaunt their habits in front of students. Young minds absorb like a dry sponge. And my God how will their lives turn out.

Nothing worse than hearing about instructors who prey on their students. And they are out there more often than not. As I have said many times - before the almighty internet we had word of mouth... about individuals who needed to be scolded. I have a few scars from those ole fashion interschool get togethers. The purpose of my system has been to document the honor codes of the Afrikan warriors. No different from the Samuari Warriors. It has only been during the last 35 years that materials concerning Black History is readily available for research... Just go on the web and try to look up Afrikan martial arts.... No telling what you will get... I am on there but only as a youth crisis educator. I have though a very special library of personalized dissertations, books, pictures etc that have been graciously placed in my care.. And I have done a great deal of travel to train with humble people who just wish to keep their culture out in the universe. Even got that "jail house rock" system in my repotoire but that is a topic for another time...

Todays youth are so far removed from honor code principles that the projections concerning youth gang warfare (and believe me it is a battle with alot of bodies) youth drug abuse, youth HIV/AIDS infections, youth domestic abuse, teen pregnancy etc. etc. etc. probably are no where near the real numbers....! Being in the public eye - we as representatives of self-control really better recognize just how much we can make things in this world so much better.... But then most people wait until it is chewing them in the ass before they respond.... So much for common sense....

This leads me into the Sciences.... specifically mathematics.... critical thinking and problem solving..... The society of Kemet (Egypt) was known for skills that mulitask and interact. The martial arts or as I call them "war sciences" are a component of total survival.... Like the ole song.....knowing when to fold them. Bullets in the hands of a scared person will put an end to a great career... When I transition and I face the Creator I want to look like I made an effort to use the brains that was given to me. ("Lord what happen was....LOL)

Therefore the AFrikan Discipline Sciences is a continually evolving system dating back to a time when Elders were respected if for only their life learning.... And in those martial arts systems of the past 50 years - I wonder if people are focusing on the internal aspects (good health, clear minds, the spirit) and not so much on the physical (I am an ole veteran on the competition circuit and you must agree we are getting damn close to gymnastics)

In closing, please accept this these words from one who has had to justify herself over the last 30 years in regard to identifying with the Afrikan Combative Arts..... our fighting systems are not or will they ever be a separate entity to be taught as an art totally alone. We as students are required to incorporate several levels of learning. Think of it this way... if someone was to describe a "body" would they only speak of the eyes?

The Afrikan Discipline Sciences is an ancient body of skill, thought, expertise and pride that does not need to be justified in comparision to others.... We just are..... We are the Elders that are watching throughout the ages.... We have settled our physical disputes and are working on leaving something to humanity.......

gyneme (Ashanti symbol) ......Fear Nothing But the Creator

                                Peace
Okay it appears you are claiming a martial arts lineage that goes back 47,000 years. Do you have any proof of a lineage that would satisfy historical standards? And some guy telling you that you were studying a 47,000 year old art by itself is not sufficient proof.
