Be Kind To The Virgin Member!!!!

I haven't the slightest idea if I am in the right area.... but I will keep it short...
It was very interesting that the pic that appear next to my name was an Black Man dress in animal skins with "num chuks"... After I recovered my composure from the laughter that was sealing off my air ways - I must admit that it was one really strange coinsidence that I am an Afrikan Dsicipline Science practioner for 30 years who is known as a die hard purist when it come to the Afrikan arts..... So all hail to the pic..... As a youth crisis educator insults are only viewed by me as a cry for help....LOL Seriously I am a great admirer of the martial arts and look forward to some very meaningful conversations...

Trying to connect with "Askari",,,, thoughout history the blending of words and people ( I am one of those bi-cultural individuals) is a fact of life... Just wanted to pay respect to all of my ancestors.... No offense intended...

Now about the term......AFrikan Discipline Science.....just trying to keep it quite clear what the program is about. the ole KISS Method... But I have had the blessings to be a disciple of fundamental arts and sanctioned to be a caretaker by some really incredible mentors. The word "teacher" has been totally worn to the bone.... So I prefer educator......
As an elder, I must admit times have changed.....this forum is would have been suited for me when I was 25... My apologies.... I will move on to a more cerebral grouo... Shalom!

Okay I have some time and I admit I skirked the issue since trying to condensed 47,000 years of history into a few "threads" is like trying to explain the reason why women have the babies......it could have really gone the other way...

But like the ole saying goes....."just do it one bite at a time".....

Afrikan..............I am refering to the continent and said cultures and societies that were the birthplace of all life.... This is a scientific fact so I will not debate it.

Discipline..........I have posted in the other catagories in regard to protecting our community members from fraud etc.... Now my area of passion is that we who are in positions of power must make an extra effort to remain morale/disciplined in the arts. I am not perfect but I have a problem with insturctors who flaunt their habits in front of students. Young minds absorb like a dry sponge. And my God how will their lives turn out.

Nothing worse than hearing about instructors who prey on their students. And they are out there more often than not. As I have said many times - before the almighty internet we had word of mouth... about individuals who needed to be scolded. I have a few scars from those ole fashion interschool get togethers. The purpose of my system has been to document the honor codes of the Afrikan warriors. No different from the Samuari Warriors. It has only been during the last 35 years that materials concerning Black History is readily available for research... Just go on the web and try to look up Afrikan martial arts.... No telling what you will get... I am on there but only as a youth crisis educator. I have though a very special library of personalized dissertations, books, pictures etc that have been graciously placed in my care.. And I have done a great deal of travel to train with humble people who just wish to keep their culture out in the universe. Even got that "jail house rock" system in my repotoire but that is a topic for another time...

Todays youth are so far removed from honor code principles that the projections concerning youth gang warfare (and believe me it is a battle with alot of bodies) youth drug abuse, youth HIV/AIDS infections, youth domestic abuse, teen pregnancy etc. etc. etc. probably are no where near the real numbers....! Being in the public eye - we as representatives of self-control really better recognize just how much we can make things in this world so much better.... But then most people wait until it is chewing them in the ass before they respond.... So much for common sense....

This leads me into the Sciences.... specifically mathematics.... critical thinking and problem solving..... The society of Kemet (Egypt) was known for skills that mulitask and interact. The martial arts or as I call them "war sciences" are a component of total survival.... Like the ole song.....knowing when to fold them. Bullets in the hands of a scared person will put an end to a great career... When I transition and I face the Creator I want to look like I made an effort to use the brains that was given to me. ("Lord what happen was....LOL)

Therefore the AFrikan Discipline Sciences is a continually evolving system dating back to a time when Elders were respected if for only their life learning.... And in those martial arts systems of the past 50 years - I wonder if people are focusing on the internal aspects (good health, clear minds, the spirit) and not so much on the physical (I am an ole veteran on the competition circuit and you must agree we are getting damn close to gymnastics)

In closing, please accept this these words from one who has had to justify herself over the last 30 years in regard to identifying with the Afrikan Combative Arts..... our fighting systems are not or will they ever be a separate entity to be taught as an art totally alone. We as students are required to incorporate several levels of learning. Think of it this way... if someone was to describe a "body" would they only speak of the eyes?

The Afrikan Discipline Sciences is an ancient body of skill, thought, expertise and pride that does not need to be justified in comparision to others.... We just are..... We are the Elders that are watching throughout the ages.... We have settled our physical disputes and are working on leaving something to humanity.......

gyneme (Ashanti symbol) ......Fear Nothing But the Creator

                          Peace

Ok, I'll make it easier. Do you spar? If so how hard? How often? What type of gear do you use? Any videos of you sparring, or even doing 'gymnastics?'
