The black ribbon is a term I came up with, to describe the black belts that are given to the student after a set time, or "awarded" without much of a fight or struggle.

I think meant taking up another martial art that isn't normally McDojoized. Ya know like BJJ, Judo, Sambo, Muay Thai, Kyokushin, Bondage. Or just go to an MMA gym.

Thanks, MacWombat. No, I don't want to train in another system yet. My instructor is good, and there is still lots that I can learn from him. But desk job and long commute makes attending classes near impossible. Hitting a normal gym is on the agenda :)
