I can't count how many times I have heard that Taekwondo sucks. I have been away from Martial Arts for quite some time and in that time I have defended Taekwondo on numerous occassions. I have also defended many other martial arts as well. I can't believe everyone who is on this site is trashing other martial arts. And you are trashing only by the title of martial arts ie: TKD, JKD, BJJ, Muay Thai etc. If anyone on here was a true martial artist (which in my opinion is not) would not be here trashing other martial arts. They would be spending their energy becoming better in there martial art(s). If everyone wants to hide behind the internet and trash other styles co ahead and be a coward. Forget all these tournament style fights, we should all go old school and step right into other training halls and challenge fights right then and there. I believe that most everyone on this site is fairly good at what ever they do. But, you must not be that good if all you are doing is pretending to know about how to fight and not actually training to be a champion. Or not training to understand your martial art.
If all you are going to do is debate on which martial art sucks, than why are you doing martial arts. I think that if anyone of your masters found out what you are doing here on the internet would punish you. And if your master gets into these debates about what is superior or inferior without acknowledging what is good in other styles then he/she is not a true master and you should seek another teacher.
All martial arts are the same, it is only emphasis that is different. Taekwondo's emphasis is the art of kicking, it's not easy. Those who are not able to use those kicks are jealous and do not work hard for them to be able to kick, and they seek another dtyle which is easier for them. In Taekwondo we also learn hand techniques, joint manipulation, and self defense. But, we do not spend alot of time doing that because the emphasis is on kicking.
Jiu-jitsu's emphasis is on grappling, but they also learn how to punch and kick, but they don't work on it as much because the emphasis is on grappling. Do you get the picture? No art sucks they all have there good and there bad. And maybe if anyone of you have ever faced a world champion fighter whether it be TKD, JIu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Karate etc. you would all get your ass kicked severly. So before you start commenting on which styles SUCK, check your self, and evaluate IS IT THE STYLE THAT SUCKS? or IS IT YOU THAT SUCKS?
