    Have I been on here long enough to say how sick and tired I am of hearing these cliches? No? Well...fuck it! I'm so sick and tired of hearing these cliches!

    Do Chunners ever stop to think that the rest of us are not the problem? It's not that we haven't see the real WC; we have. It's that so few of us have seen useful WC. I'm starting to think that good WC is just another myth, like leprechauns, the Easter Bunny, or Jesus.

    I remember being in awe at the awesomeness of wing chun. The sifus had such amazing softness and speed, they would surely be able to respond to any attack like they claimed.

    Do they spar in your school? And have you tried GnPing your sifu yet?

    Real Wing Chun

    Forgive me if I am long winded but I can't listen to this nonsense any longer.I trained in karate at 12, began wrestling at fourteen. I studied aikido under sensei Mark Reed for 3 years. I then trained in Sambo, BJJ and muay thai under Master Lloyd Irvin ( Camp Springs , MD) for almost 4 years. I did the submission tournaments and the fightclubs, etc. I am not rickson Gracie but I am very good and can hold my own against almost anyone.I am 183 lbs and can bench 365. Also I am very quick with feet and hands. About 6 months ago I started wing chun under Sifu Khallef Ali (LAurel ,MD). This man is probably 5' 5 ,maybe 120.I have never thought highly of wing chun or kung fu. My mind was changed after 1 minute with this man. I have been there about six months and I am still in awe. THere are a lot of bullshit wing chun sifu's and schools out here , but trust me if you think wing chun is a joke , you haven;t seen real wing chunAnd make no mistake I am a grappler by nature and I still love grappling . but if I knew then what I know now I would have done wing chun a long time ago.

    Interesting addition to the debate. Would you care to elaborate?

    Avoid the following phrases or similar, to avoid getting thoroughly shat on:

    * I do the REAL wing chun
    * It works for me
    * The ring isn't like real fighting
    * Real Wing Chun masters aren't interested in videos
    * All the fighting occurs on rooftops in Hong Kong
    * You guys just haven't trained long enough to understand
    * Anti-grappling
    * 'Devastating'

    This is not an exhaustive list. Good luck.

    Now if I write to McWombat that I'm a "fat lazy bitch sitting infront of my PC screen all day long" I expect you guys to be enlightened by the sheer humour of this statement.
    Except for those of you who actually know/have seen me.
    Do I know you K-Ron? Have I met you before?

    I think the the BJJ white belt vs. Wing Chun master mite a bit far fetched. At the end of the day a fight comes down to the fighter not the art. Agreed some arts are stronger than others and seem more effective but if the practioner doesn't train enough, wrong state of mind etc. he could be learning the most powerful art in the world and still loose.

    I agree that most Wing practioners would struggle in most competitions cause from what i've seen of alot of Wing Practioners is they have prity low fitness levels (Look at Tonuzaba, he evn admits him himself). At the end of the day if you can't physically survive a couple of rounds then you've got no chance. I do belive that you can learn Wing Chun faster if you aren't muscle bound when you start so you don't compensate by using your muscles instead of technique, however to compete I also believe you've got to build yourself up. Therefore Wing Chun isn't ideal for competition cause you'd either have to not get hit or make sure you've got enough meat on you to take a punch.

    I know this is no excuse as you can still odvoiously learn Wing Chun and have lots of muscle just in my experiance it seems to be more difficult for this type of person to pick up the art. Mite just be that the muscular guys I trained with are slow learners though.

    Has any one located this David Levicki fight tape. I'd like to have a look at it and so far haven't been able to find it in my searches. Thanks

    Go ahead and ask Tomas, for he claims to have trained with the head instructor of the Hungarian Wing Tsun Organization si-fu Norbert Maday, if a BJJ white belt with 1 year of training would own him...
    Would/could....
    I really can't say.
    But I'm willing to fight him under standard MMA rules next time I'm in Europe, Tonuzaba can arrange the fight and get rich on selling the video to Fox News.

    The point is, he doesn't fight. He does drills with his students at most. And beats them up in demonstrations.
    Same with his teacher, Leung Ting. I don't think there is any evidence that Leung Ting ever sparred live.
    That's the way these guys work. You don't fight, you don't loose. They have too much to loose.

    That is why I have so much respect for people like Randy Cotoure, Royce, Renzo, Pat Milletich, etc etc. Guys that have been putting it on the line forever, and still do, again and again. You don't find guys like that in _ing _un.

    Look, there was a couple of _ing _un guys in MMA fights:
    Asbel Cancio (VT) lost to Dave Beneteau (Judo/Wrestling) in one of the old UFCs.
    http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/f...p?fighterID=57, his only fight. With all the respect, look at the video, this was probably the first time in his life that he faced a grappler.
    David Levicky (WC) actually won one fight (http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/f...?FighterID=28), he sprawled a shot and beat the wrestler to submission.
    It can be done. _ing _un apologists say that these guys weren't really that good...OK, bring on the good ones.

    Anyway, this debate is old...

    LolodesBois]What aspect of WT techniques can't you practice with another person ? With today's protections you can pretty much fight NHB without to much risks if both person have good levels.

    For example, but I think DrTzunTzu already wrote that one - full power stomping kick to the knee...

    My mistake, you're right. I got confused because of the reference to taking part in a NHB fight.
