I swear, every Brazilian fighter I see in MMA looks like a goddamn clone. Jesus tattoos, BJJ fighter, bad attitude, and boring. Yep, I just fast-forward through all Brazilian-on-Brazilian fights, never worth watching.

Jesus Tattoos : Brazil is an overwhelmingly Catholic country - despite the bikini wax and the carnaval in Rio, faith runs deep. This is cultural. If you are smart, don't touch that, don't go there.

BJJ fighter: BJJ : Brazilian Jiu Jitsu maybe??? Plus most of these dudes come from a strong MT (Chute Box) background. Some are Luta Livre folks.

Bad Attitute : Never seen that in Nogeira or Vito Belfort. Compared that to Tank Abot, or Phil Baroni. Anyways, bad attitute is part of the bizness, ya know.

El Macho, I would argue that no one is black. Or white. In Brazil, there are dozens of classifications of color, whereas we in the United States tend to have only five or six. I'll look it up in my book later, if anyone's interested in the classifications.

(What I'm trying to say is, perhaps an American would see a Brazilian and think "Black," or, "White," but a Brazilian might see a huge amount of difference and even have classifications ready-made for the various shades of brown.)

I know what you mean. We people from south of the border are quite mixed mutts. Nog is a mestizo/mulato (like me)... but Pele is Black... no question about that. LOL.

Brazil is such a diverse, immense, multifacetic nation, it and its people can't be described with broad generalizations.

I wouldn't worry too much about BJJ, it's slowly becoming less and less important in a fight. I think in the near future we're going to see a lot more mexican taekwondo.
