Not true. Granted, it would be a shorter thread, but there would be pictures in it. BTW...did PeterH change his name, or is he off the radar now? I liked his posts on when he saw bad Aikido.

You can deny you do Aikido all you want. But I think you will be happier of you come out of the Aikido closet because I like my beers cold and my homosexuals flaming.

This just happened to be the thread I was reading at the time the little voice took control. :icon_joke

That wasn't my point at all. I find it annoying though when someone with no understanding or experience in an art posts any picture he can find by googling.

I lurk there. It's slower than frozen dogshit travelling uphill.

I went there because of Ronin. His posts are worth reading anywhere.

Tom Kagan totally read my mind in the future and posted this before I had even actually thought of it, though quantumly speaking I did think of it first.

Why do I do Aikido? I'm not a Japanese wannabe hippie and most importantly I don't believe in Ki/Chi. I believe there are biomechanical explanations for why the body moves in specific ways.

Maybe I'm just going through a phase and I'll start Muay Thai.

Proof, if any was needed, that in many cases Aikido is a Mickey Mouse MA.

                            ...

Any thoughts on that naughty Mr. Tomiki and his heretical branch of 'oneness'?

Kenji Tomiki's training system in IMHO is the most effective. He standardized moves in his curriculum. Many moves in Aikido don't have names and Kenji Tomiki named them such as shomen-ate and aigamae-ate.
He taught his students to use Aikido during sparring unlike other styles. Aikido does have Kaeshi waza but it has no comparison to Tomiki's style randori. They have shiai in New york this Fall incase anyone would like to watch it.

It also makes you work for your victory. I saw a Shodokan Aikido class before Xmas, and there was a lot of grunting, grappling and people getting knocked over...

Then again, there was a lot of Kata that didn't look like it had much in the way of practical applications too - so I remain perched on the fence.
