Your point is way off the mark. Most of us have studied/do study Aikido. I understand fully what is happening in the pictures I post and I revel in the chance to make fun of them. I have posted many pictures of what I thought were good Aikido techniques/practitioners. These people aint them.

That wasn't my point at all. I find it annoying though when someone with no understanding or experience in an art posts any picture he can find by googling.

Aikido is unrealistic intellectual masturbation, often practiced by dellusional hippies, and as it its taught and practiced by 90% of Aikidoka sucks.

Why do I do Aikido? I'm not a Japanese wannabe hippie and most importantly I don't believe in Ki/Chi. I believe there are biomechanical explanations for why the body moves in specific ways.

Maybe I'm just going through a phase and I'll start Muay Thai.

Kenji Tomiki's training system in IMHO is the most effective. He standardized moves in his curriculum. Many moves in Aikido don't have names and Kenji Tomiki named them such as shomen-ate and aigamae-ate.
He taught his students to use Aikido during sparring unlike other styles. Aikido does have Kaeshi waza but it has no comparison to Tomiki's style randori. They have shiai in New york this Fall incase anyone would like to watch it.

It also makes you work for your victory. I saw a Shodokan Aikido class before Xmas, and there was a lot of grunting, grappling and people getting knocked over...

Then again, there was a lot of Kata that didn't look like it had much in the way of practical applications too - so I remain perched on the fence.
