Hi. You are reading an archive of the legendary Bullshido forums, from 2002-2020. Please visit our NEW and (arguably) improved forums at https://forums.bullshido.net.
(Or don't, this is just an announcement and nobody's holding a gun to your head.)
As I noted on another thread in which a poster offered the above "tying of the Magic Pants" with particular attention to the expression on the face of the guy in #8, I think he needs a cigarrette.
Sorry, but the whole Magic Pants indicates, "I do not plan to work very hard, for it is beneath a Warrior like me!"
Only the japaneese would come up with a article of clothing so complicated it actually takes time to learn how to wear it. Of course what does that say about the people who still wear it...
Ow! Dude, if you don't want to marry me, just say so!
awful, simply awful....the grip, the throw, the lack of base/balance, the overreaching, lack of control over uke, the piss poor ukemi.....he must have forgot to charge up his magical pants that morning...
Except in O Soto the guy doesn't go flying past you, instead he goes flying in front of you.
Not saying it is O Soto Geri but a simillar effect as when you go for an O Soto and time it so well you don't even have to sweep. Again it's all in the timing. The problem with Aikido is that they don't teach you the O Soto so when you go for the step and throw and screw it up you can go for the O Soto or twist your body into a hip throw or tai o toshi that might be there.
But of all the many Aikido techniques, step and throw techniques ( at least Yoshinkan) involves the least small joint manipulation and IMO is the closest to being practical.
