This is why we have Throwdowns. People who've never sparred or rolled with someone who's halfway decent at something like BJJ or Kickboxing have no concept of the difference between a fighter produced by compliant, dead training, and someone who trains with aliveness.

I actually use wrist locks now and then both standing (sankyo and kotagaeshi) and in the guard/mounted (nikkyo and ikkyo). I almost never use them, but i find its fun to pull them out in rare situations because they are unexpected and usually give you the response you were looking for for the takedown or the escape. I'm sure if I did them all the time that people would be wise to me and I would find them uneffective.

That's a priceless little ditty right there. Horse stance? Is this kid serious?

My point to this is that in a real fight, the grappling guys, such as us (aikidoka) would not easily be taken down, and just like the BJJ guys, we know what to do once we are down.

Where did this come from? This kid's version of "on the ground" is obviously him on his knees doing the final pin in an ikkyo or nikkyo. I don't know what kind of Aikido he's studying that would make him feel he could make a statement like that. This kid has never been taken down unwillingly.

Yup, fool 'em once but never again. Occasionally I'll find myself in a position to use a wrist lock but doing so is more of a joke and typically gets a "you motherfucker!!" response and a good laugh.

And my gym has an Aikido program to go with our submission wrestling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Judo programs.

Interestingly enough, the 3 key players who teach the Judo/BJJ white belt class/ Aikido are all Aikido black belts (and natrually teach that as well). They are also black belts in Judo and brown belts in BJJ.

This guy is more than welcome to come on down to the gym and ask the BJJ guys if they can take him down- just a reminder that hes going to be thoroughly disappointed with his Aikido.

Those were exactly the points I keyed in on. The fact that he thinks it would take more than one attempt to take him down from a horse stance, let alone multiple attempts is friggin' hillarious. It doesn't take a BJJ type to knock him on his ass from that stance. Then he calls himself a grappler? Puh-lease!

I already posted this as an april fools joke. Let me tell you what happened when I posted on that thread. I told the posters of AIkiweb that they could philosphize about their art or they could come to a bullshido throwdown and prove that it works. Guess what happened? They deleted the 8 posts that I had and banned me. Fictionpimp you've been in Aikido longer than I have. Can you explain the logic behind banning me because I told them to shut up and prove their art works instead of being a bunch of philosophers.

That guy is proabably responding to what I said when I told him to go to a BJJ school and video tape the effectiveness of his horse stance. I repeatley told him to PROVE IT!!!.
