Surprisingly hi praise for Gordon Ryan

    https://www.bjjee.com/articles/royce-gracie-on-whod-win-rickson-gracie-or-gordon-ryan-tells-interesting-stories/?fbclid=IwAR008QeKllWR6uQsTK_4FWqj4dV3SDIGoqGRKQ1h KeKMKXQy_8IsI23aV4Q

Now I know that all of who follow grappling and isn't a hater to just be a hater know how good Gordon Ryan is.
However we should all know is how hard it is for a Gracie to admit that maybe someone is better than Rickson Gracie at any sort of grappling even keeping it narrow to a single ruleset like ADDCC.

I just found it interesting is all.
Of the single rapier fight between valiant men, having both skill, he that is the best wrestler, or if neither of them can wrestle, the strongest man most commonly kills the other, or leaves him at his mercy.

Yeah, I guess him saying that neither would submit the other is some pretty high praise from a Gracie. For real. I would like to hear Eddie Bravo’s side of the confrontation. Did he say what he was confronted about?

You can watch the altercation online and hear exactly what Royce said to him. No need to guess or play he said. If I was home and had more energy I would look up the video for you.

This thread would almost be a good place to talk about how fucking weirdly cultish people in the BJJ community can be about the Gracie family.
A good example of that is the "trouble" Keenan Cornelius got for his funny as hell comments on the MatBurn podcast about Helio & Rickson Gracie: ‘Their Level Was Probably Tough Purple Belt’.
Like he was getting lets say insincere death threats.

Yeah, there's an odd amount of that. I expect some of course, but still strikes me as odd after all these years.

What is going to be really interesting is I suspect backlash to Robert Drysdale documentary:
                  http://www.closedguardthemovie.com/

Cause its going to highlight some of these crazy myths around the origins of BJJ and its going to show how Thuggish the Gracies where.

Books have been written about that already...

For sure in fact I think you can find a number of them right off of here I believe:
                      http://www.global-training-report.com/features.htm

Statements in books don't get coverage on BJJ Scout or BJJ Digest or commented on by Flow Grappling.

A movie with someone that has a BJJ Heroes page:
                      https://www.bjjheroes.com/bjj-fighte...sdale-wiki-bio

Releasing a documentary is likely to get the Gracie Cult members attention, in those spheres.
What the back lash from this will be I have 0 clue, hard to predict.

Here's a recent youtube video by a Rickson JJ black belt.

                          https://youtu.be/1mA9mVTIwOQ

He argues that substituting weapon or striking techniques from arts that specialize in those domains is bad, but my favorite is around 9:30.

"If Rickson does it, we do it. If Rickson doesn't do it, we don't do it."
