Been there, done that. Cardio for BJJ/grappling/wrestling is a wholly different beast, especially if you're a noob. You spend a lot of time in positions where your body is not optimal at breathing or pumping blood, and then you add in the spaz factor... you see a lot of puking and/or passing out with white belts.

Somewhat related, one of my former professors did some sciency stuff on caloric burn, a while back:

Prove it. Show us you sprawl.

Also I'm still convinced you've never sparred beyond foot tag in your life never mind had an actual fight.

You speak about fighting and grappling like you've watched a load of YouTube videos rather than speaking from actual experience. You're the ultimate keyboard warrior. I honestly think one of the mods or staff should make you a badge to go with your profile stating explicitly that to warn anyone naive to not know better that you talk shite.

I have other options than enter a guard and ground and pound someone who never sparred a day in his life on his feet, but "rehersed" takedowns with cooperation in true aikido style.

Wrong, holding someone in mount is a skill, you have to have base, especially if your throwing punches. You have 0 clue who quick and easy it is to escape mount vs someone that doesn't know how to hold mount.
This is shit you actually learn if you do BJJ. Not from some instructor telling you this shit, but you get people that come in to try out BJJ and you roll with them and they can't do shit. They are off base the whole damn time.
Guys that shows up to a BJJ gym that has no other grappling experience can't even do 30 seconds to a 1 minutes worth of BJJ before they have to tap out to cardio on their 1st day, even if they are freaking marathon runner.
You can sit their an pontificate but you don't actually know shit.

You do understand that wrestlers do have expertise of staying on top and pinning people, and are use to people trying to move from under them.
Also fuck listening to Eddie Bravo you can literally go watch KOTC matches during the style vs style era of MMA and see terrible blue belts doing fine against people and I mean you can see how shit their grappling is(well you probably can't) but anyone who has done any sort of training can see how terrible their grappling is, but their success ratio of BJJ Blue belts in KOTC vs other styles was still really freaking high.
Fuck you can still go to MMA amature events and still watch untrained fighters try and get into the ring with people that train.
I have seen my fair share of librarians schooling the fuck out of the guys with tear drop tattoos on their face.

So maybe you should actually go into one of them sport BJJ Gyms and see how long you can hold mount in a situation where your trying to generate power to throw strikes from the mount of worse yet from closed guard.

Your random lad can just be a big dude who gets on top and G&P the shit out of any expertise they learned. Eddie Bravo talked about how this would happen to jiujitsu guys back in the day even in MMA against wrestlers, because they arrogantly assumed they had everything worked out.

If the jiujitsu guy is on top though, even if he's a librarian, it's probably over very soon.

No they aren't... They can't do a takedown to save their lifes.. and they have no training against ground and pound in the sport jiujitsu schools that far outnumber self defense ones.

I will grant you though that a librarian who does TaeKwonDo is going to get his ass kicked just as much. TKD is not a one size fits all martial art, but neither is BJJ the way it's trained today with no sparring standing up in MANY schools.

Cause that shit actually works and has nothing to being fucking hard.

Like you know shit about shit to make any sort of judgement
MMAonpoint YouTube channel did a vid where they rounded up the times MMA fighters stopped criminals along with the footage that went with it. Most of it was just getting the other guy to the ground and really just holding a dominant position like top mount until the police came. Like I think there was a few that got the thief in some submissions like triangles and such but yeah. Mainly just mount and wait.

People really misunderstand how effective grappling can be. Your random lad on the street has half a fucking clue what to do on the ground and will just flail around like a little bitch and exhaust himself.

There was a national ITF TKD champion in the 80s name Liam something.. who robbed a bank with his gang, was halted by a security guard, and broke his leg with one kick. That dude loved fighting on the streets too.

Funny thing is he talks about how TKD instilled disciplin in him. He is out of crime these days.

My club had those types of dudes join, spar, and fight for real. I was told my instructor intercepted on at least one and struck them

These days we have 99% librarians, lawyers, doctors, and blue collar guys. Amazing how times have changed.

Now there's two of those guys per club, max.

So that's frustration as hell, but gym warriors are equally annoying.

The BJJ club I visited wasn't exactly an alfa place either, though. Similiar distribution.
