Great stuff. They have been sorely missed.

The UFC has obviously evolved since then but it's fun to see.

I found that article years ago.

A lot of the re-res who got their shit pushed in back in the no-holds-barred days had some El Violador-style excuses for their defeats:

After losing in UFC 2, chunner David Levicki claimed he could've easily broken Johnny Rhodes' neck with a technique he learned in the Navy Seals. Even though it would've been legal, he held back because he didn't want to kill him.

After getting his face ripped off by Dave Beneteau, chunner Asbel Cancio conceded that grappling was good "for a one-on-one fight," but still claimed the UFC's rules favored grapplers. He also implied Beneteau (A wrestler) was too afraid to stand and bang with him.

After tapping to a choke by Remco Pardoel, pressure point stylist Ryan Parker (Who previously claimed to be immune to chokes) claimed the submission only had a mild effect on him and that he could've fought on, but didn't want to tire Remco out before his fight with Marco Ruas. He also claimed he was offered more fights in the UFC, but declined when they banned throat strikes.

    It's hard to explain.

These two guys really have much, much more in common they do in difference.

They are both going to jaw at each other naturally.
