    So, then, which one?

Over the years I've studied a number of different arts and enjoyed most of them. I got up to brown belt in 2 styles of TKD, taught by a man who didn't teach for tournaments. I studied a style of gung fu in the 70s. I studied, briefly, Tai Chi with a master from Taiwan who was simply amazing. If I still lived in Chicago I'd be studying with him.

But that was then, this is now. I'm 66 with an unstable back (grappling is out) and erosive arthritis in my hands (reconsider some of those punching exercises, ya'll).

Y'all aren't shy with opinions and you don't tolerate bullshit, so what do you folks suggest? I quit carrying a gun when I put down the badge and I don't always have a cane. Suggestions?

You have posted an unworthy question in MABs.

Soon, the Gods of Bullshido will move your post to YMAS.

You have insulted the honor of the Shaolin Temple.

Pick the gun back up. Go shoot USPSA or something.

I would recommend elliptical training two or three times a week and limit your sodium and sugar intake.

Wish granted, my trusty and faithful servant (muahahahahaha).

Also, to OP, get thee some Tai Chi. You already have experience, you can do 42 forms on your own... it's like yoga, only slightly less deadly.
Consider for a moment that there is no meme about brown-haired, brown-eyed step children.

Yay! An old fart. I feel young. Kick his ass!

            Welcome to the site.

Vote for Tai Chi or yoga. Without the goats.

I would suggest you not talk shit, not start shit, not step up, not worry about self defense in general. Just use environmental awareness and stay the fuck out of situations where a frail, unarmed, basically untrained person could get hurt.

                  Seriously.

But if you are worried about self defense and insist on training them, in your situation, I would focus on easily concealable bang bangs with a heavy emphasis on the legal aspects and live tactical shooting drills and practice some serious weapon retention strategies using small small blades along side your pistol.

                        Why tho?

De-escalation and hierarchy of force are just fantasy concepts when it comes to immigrant rapist invasions and minority attack death panels.

                            OIC. Nifty. Cold, but nifty.

I committed to Free State Project a ways back. Nothing ever happened (the fucking wikipedia count hasn't been updated in nearly 3 years). People want a temperate climate in which to exercise their freedom to stand in their front yard, naked and unafraid, pissing in wind.

It is yet another fear-based industry, seriously. The whole thing....

I moved here before the idea was hatched.
