Finally clear proof that wing chun works! Maybe you all can shut up now as this totally invalidates the 7895 other videos of wing chun getting destroyed!

Suckers! I knew is was just a matter of time!

More just a matter of finding small and old enough opponents. Picking the right adversary is Sun Tzu level of martial wisdom.

Actually, grabbing and punching was something we practiced a lot in karate back in the 80s. A guy I knew was very proficient at grabbing the upper sleeve and twisting hard to unbalance and keep controlled his opponent while he punched the face. He once injured someone's shoulder while doing it, too.
The rise of the point-competition ruleset kinda made away with it by making grabbing the gi forbidden in competition.

His autobiography and interview books deal very explicitly with the subject. He is rather very outspoken about his experiences.

I stumbled across Dahlgren in my university library, consumed it in a couple days despite the opaque narrative. It amuses me that there's a genuine bifurcation of literary opinion as to whether it's a masterpiece or a troll job, because that's the effect it had on me. Probably read the same bio as you, something about the name of the commune he lived in? Also, a collection of short works, including one that always sticks in my mind about an isolated, primitive culture. It was interesting in that, a) he posited they lived in an environment of such plenty, that they had no number over twenty, anything more was "an uncountable many," and that they drew no distinction between sexes, were generally near-nude or nude all the time, but the men had a penis-like reverence for a ritualistic caving they concealed with a belt.

No, we already had Dan Horgan prove this to us long ago.

Not a dud in the lot.

                    Well, by Bullshido standards, anyway.

On second thought, don't bother. It's a silly thread.

You are a better man than me. I have never been able to finish Dalhgren.
I think the bio book to which you refer is BREAD AND WINE, about his time in a comune or sumthin'. I have not read that one. Instead I read THE MOTION OF LIGHT OVER WATER, a biography covering his childhood, education and early writing.
I sometimes discuss stuff with him in FB.

Wing Chun dude wants to fight MARTIAL ART Masters from other arts, many actual TRAINED martial artists accepted and Dan settles on a broken, literally, guitar playing hobbyist to SPAR at a throw down. The hobbyist settled on SPARRING rules, but wouldn't listen to any us of who told him it was going to be considered a fight. You can figure out what happened.

Oh and that is not the only thread.

No, that was small tunnels the Americans couldn't fit through, which is truly god-tier anti imperialism.

That switch-hands-and-stomp-the-ground footwork is so annoying.

If the sparring had been anything more intense than the chi sau to trying to trap the other guy's arms and hit his chest, I would have been eating a lot of straight rights and lefts to the face, being 5'5 130 lbs.

Not a style that favors small people to the extent that it works as a way to back up/control an opponent. (Who's preferably untrained, smaller, lighter)
so the creator of _ing __un, yim wing chun, is possibly a very large woman. and ip man was probably fighting jiangshi back then.
