Basically what I am asking is what is your favorite way to murder someone with a knife.....
      Rear Naked Knife

That said you'd be surprised just how incompetent some people are with knives. A drug dealer who used to operate around where I live got stabbed something crazy like 20 times and survived

That just goes back to how terrible people are at fighting in general.

There are many institutions.... they train people for knife combat...
There are also many websites who provide online training through videos...
It depends upon time and resources you have...

Very very few groups and almost no institutions actually train people for knife combat.
If you are learning knife or blade work online you are a jackass and setting yourself up for severe disappointment whether you're learning defense from a knife or defense with a knife or even offense with a knife.
If you don't have the time and resources to properly train (including learning about the legality of using and carrying your weapons both federally and locally), carry and use a weapon, you just shouldn't do it, it becomes a liability.

I've seen +17(ish maybe even a +23?) and like -12(ish). Not many people use the arrow functions which is good cause fuck you if you are shooting from dark, you dirty lurkers.

                      God I hope not.

Knife combat, outside of some VERY specific military circumstances, is illegal as fuck.

Having done HEMA for several years, which includes things like full contact sparring with training knives, one of the things that I learned was that knife fighting is a HUGE gamble. Even if you are considerable better than the other guy, odds are he gets steel on you at least once.

                      Knives are DEADLY period.
They are regarded as deadly force in pretty much all jurisdictions in the U.S. at least. Please, some of my overseas friends jump in and confirm if this is true in other places as well.

The reason this is important in U.S. law, is that any situation in which you would be justified in deploying a knife, you would also be justified in deploying a firearm. Learning the use of a knife is fine, and FMA and HEMA are good places to do that, but understand that it is a tertiary weapon at best and useless and delay causing at worst.

Pursue it if you want, but don't be surprised if people mock the idea of 'knives for self defense'. Knives are a tool, that can sometimes be used as a weapon.

I'm a little disappointed that we are 40 posts deep, and noone has recommended Nigel February of Piper Knife Fighting fame.

Honorable mention to BFM for reference to master Wong.

Op, if you want to learn to use a knife effectively follow these steps:

                            1- ambush.
                            2- stab to the face.
                            3- do it a lot.
                            4- run away.

No need to thank me. I accept payment by PayPal.

Slow down, dude, he's not in the Advanced class yet.

Lesson 1: Like many weapons, there is a dangerous end and a not dangerous end. You want to hold on to the not dangerous end.

Lesson 2: The dangerous end of a knife is the end that most commonly has a pointy part and a flat, "bladed" area, which is where the name "blade" comes from.

Lesson 3: Stabbing is the act of putting the pointy end inside an object, often repeatedly.

You are now qualified for Kovacs course.
GET A RED BELT OR DIE TRYIN'.
