Hannibalistic's style field is "JKD & Mok'bara", leading me to believe he's well versed in Bruce Lee and Klingon lore.

I'm going to make a deductive leap here, but the biggest controversies in Bruce Lee's history tie back to the 1967 Ed Parker tournament where Lee and Vic Moore "sparred" and speed tested each other. There has been a rift between Lee and Moore students ever since (in fact, this year is the 50th anniversary of the feud).

This is of course the background for the climactic bullshit in "Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story"...I think in that movie, Vic Moore gets replaced by the kung fu dude, who Bruce Lee defeats, proving to the world his Jeet Kune Do is the shizzit. The whole affair with Moore was essentially whitewashed and replaced with Gong Sau to the Death (part deux), I believe in order to distance the mythical Lee from the warts-and-all Lee.

Nah, dude. I think the Johnny Sun fight in "Dragon" was supposed to be the Wong Jack Man fight. In the movie and in real life, it was about Chinese people being pissed that Bruce Lee was teaching Kung Fu to non-Chinese. In the movie, Bruce got his back injury from the fight, but in real life the drama came from the fact that it took Bruce a really long time to beat him up with Wing Chun. After that, he got into the whole JKD thing.

Wasn't there a write up on Fightland where they dispelled that bullshit myth about the CMA people out of San Francisco being pissed about Bruce Lee (One Inch Punches Be Upon Him) teaching the white devil the Lord's Gong Fu? With pictures of those same CMA people training white people at least as far back as when Lee first left Hong Kong for the US? IIRC the feud was actually because Bruce Lee (OIPBUH) was actually a complete cunt and constantly throwing challenges around and disrespecting the CMA guys in SF.

Which fits, sort of, with why that opium head Yip Man "stopped" training him. Allegedly (according to William Cheung) he was kicking all the senior student instructors asses and they pressured Yip Man to ban him or they would take away his stipend and he wouldn't be able to buy dope anymore.

The first Johnny Sun fight was supposed to represent the beef with Wong Jack Man, and the second fight was at Ed Parker's tournament...which would represent Vic Moore vs Bruce Lee.

They basically took several of Bruce Lee's "fights" and other notoriety and turned it into a recurring character (and his brother). I think that might have been done to remove controversy from the movie...rather than dredge up Bruce's real life beefs, they got creative and made a kung fu master (at least it made the movie more interesting).

The whole back/traction thing was bullshit, in real life Lee injured himself doing this barbell exercise:

About once a year, I visit the local zoo. While I'm there, I always pass by the monkey house and watch the monkeys jumping up and down and screaming and beating their chests and waving their dicks and flinging crap at each other.
