I'm ready to start a Grand Unifying Thread because the threads seem to continuously dovetail. In the RBSD too Expensive thread, there's talk about the standard of H2H training in the armed forces. A notion I think is true for Armed forces and LE: Even a sub-par technique that is applied aggressively and confidently by a trained and strong man, is going to have some success. I'm partial to windmilling dicks. But that's just me. Just the fact of that something has been trained into a person improves their confidence and reactions. So with what I understand about SF culture, they do their best to make whatever tools available to them work for them.
Now, what MA program is best for SF is a separate issue. I have my own ideas about that, but that would be for another thread. Maybe Fantasy self defense school thread.

To supports 1point2's comment. Toughness goes alooong way. Maybe the real discussion is how we cultivate that toughness.

Only partially true. The Nazis would have found the Ark with the amulet, and would have gotten apocolypsed opening it, but still, they'd know where it was, and nobody else would. They might send another crew to look into the disappearance of the first... sooner or later, they'd deduce what the Ark did, then it would be open, on a truck, rolling towards Moscow.

This reminds me of the time Villain and Plasma were breaking The Ghost of Helio Gracie's balls over him applying a heel hook shittily in a photo from when he was 92. How long do you have to be the best for to be one of the best ever?

I personally would have voted for a Mace Windu/ Anakin Skywalker ticket all day.

My kids are half Puerto Rican, with people in their family who are dark, and people in their family who are pale.

I don't know what that makes them in the classification model you just presented.

But, both my kids know the basics of how to use firearms, wrestle, box, and do Judo.

They know how to take a beating without melting,

and give a beating under various rules of engagement.

I have told them that they cannot expect the universe to be fair or give them anything.

And that they have to develop the smarts and the strength to be able to earn whatever it is they want to get out of life.

They know what death is, and they know that I, and they, will die eventually.

They also know that if they make a stupid decision it could cost them their limbs, health, freedom, or life.

They know where meat comes from, how we get, and they have participated in taking it, preparing it, and then eating it.

This is the universe. It is not fair. It will eventually kill you.

Humans are by and large a selfish and often violent species with some potential for kindness and compassion.

Buy a dog, drink a beer, and enjoy the ride.

Because this universe is going to surprise you, eventually kill you, and kill everyone else.
