Does powerlifting work in real fights

    #2
If you wanna be street effective, you're gonna need to do at least some resistance training. Otherwise your minigun or flamethrower will be too heavy and awkward to carry around everywhere.

I'm sure if you put in the work, you can find plenty of videos of guys cleaning and jerking each other.

Well I can honestly say that I once used a combination of deadlift/bench press/squat/bench press to throw some sick motherfuck out of my apartment when there was some crazy liquor and arm wrestling party gone terribly wrong

I've never seen a fight where 'being too strong' is a disadvantage.

This a thousand times this. I have never ever even once heard someone say "if only I were weaker in that fight". Strength is just a huge fucking advantage to have.

I've had an instructor that when the class didn't preform the technique up to his expectations, he just have us all do push-ups. Because "if you can't be good, at least I can make you strong as fuck."

No one ever got strong as f*** doing push-ups.

Powerlifting techniques, when applied to powerlifting, will increase the effectiveness of your martial art techniques. Strength smooths out deficiencies in your technique.

Don't krotty chop your barbells and don't power clean your sparring partners.

Lift heavy things and stop being a p****.

Funny post. Does power lifting work in real fights? Many years ago I was a succesfull competitive power lifter. 2 state championships. Ranked in the top 50 in the US in the deadlift. By contrast I was always an average martial artist who is good at certain techniques. Worked as a bouncer for many years. I'm not a big guy by bouncer standards. I can say without a doubt that my powerlifting background along with my basic, average Jiu jitsu helped me very much.
