I have learned through the years that sometimes just talking to an attacker can stop a situation. Other times going on the defence can put an attacker of. Other times attacking back. I understand that attacking can be at times the best option. So yes all avenues should and must be explored. Just having a good technical. Ability is not enough. If you can't read or understand a situation to put them to good use.

Not to be disrespectful to anyone. Any art that claim's to be the best all-round system is wrong. Every art form and discipline has something to offer.
As people we all have something to offer. Be it wisdom, techniques or fitness. The same can be said for the arts. The arts are forever involving as people are.

Ridgway - on your style you state your style is Khan-ryu. After some fairly cursory Google-Fu I can't seem to find it. The nearest I get to it is GKR karate. What martial art do you practice??

Khan-ryu is a mixed style comprising of karate,ju-jitsu,judoo and boxing. These are the main forms used. I have noticed other form in it but these 4 are the most prominent.

Many martial art styles have generally only one thing to offer: A waste of time.

I'm sorry that you feel that way.
Personally I try to keep an open mind.

In fact, all martial arts are a waste of time.

Tell me what happens when the taxman arrives, huh? What then, are you gonna do? Shrimp away? Throw that jab?

Idiots. You should've used that time to make yourself some fucking money.

                    You are a funny man.
But if the taxman is calling perhaps you should have paid him in the first place.

People overly vocal about "keeping an open mind" tend to make a disguised demand onto others to stop being critical.

What I mean by saying keep an open mind.
Don't disregard something just because. Look and see what it has to offer you. If it's nothing then disregard it

People who are to critical don't always take the time to see if there is anything to offer.
