Suddenly and very, very quickly, as it turns out.

      You prefer Star Trek?

HM posted Picard eating a sandwich and I just ran with it, but if you want to beat on the person who brought in SW/Jar Jar, it's all him.

If Episode VII is nothing but 105 minutes of the Empire killing Jar Jar, it will be a cinematic triumph.

Actually, the crux of that video was a story Picard told about a Streetfight from his youth. He had his enemy on the ground in a "devious joint lock" but ended up getting impaled in the back by the dude's friend.

              Ergo, BJJ is for pussies.

The worst scifi fanboys are Whovians. I am one so I know.

They're cancelling superhero shows left and right....we've kept the same TV show running for over 50 years.

                  Who-ra.

But Dr Who isn't scifi. There is as much science in a Dr Who episode as a Harry Potter movie.

That's not entirely accurate. You're probably thinking new Doctor Who, which is a lot more fantasy and CGI monsters.

Old Doctor Who had plenty of real science and was more sci-fi....robots, AI, quantum physics, etc.

Here's Tom Baker discussing the invention of the radio telescope (albeit its purpose in this particular episode is to receive a distress signal regarding an ancient Egyptian god living on Mars).

I agree completely. I even like the ancient episodes, where it was straight-up educational TV concealed in a time travel meme. The reboot gets all the attention... and it's just not that good.

Even better are the times when the Dr. whips out Venusian Aikido or Martian Karate and kicks ass.

That's where you can find the real Aikido. Venus.

One of my favorite lines in Dr. Who:

"I always find that violent exercise makes me hungry, don't you agree?", followed by a bite of sandwich. Classy.

I liked how his battle of wills vrs The Omega was represented as two judo throws looped for like ten minutes.
