Archery: Now a Live Martial Art

A decent hunter could probably kill every one of these folks from 50 yards away.
Is it really that realistic? That's not how bowmen fought in the past...that is not a normal range for long bow combat.
There is almost a Pythonesque silliness about it. I mean, some archers in history could do amazing running, jumping, shooting things, legends of hitting targets beyond 100 yards...but this seems to be akin to paintball with padded arrows.
Looks fun but "art" lol.Last edited by W. Rabbit; 8/14/2015 10:20am, .

I wonder how strong their bows are, I would think anything over 25 would probably be dangerous even with a padded tip. As far as the martial art part I was under the impression that historically archers were more volley and formation shooters when not on horseback. I'm not sure how well it would work to try and imitate green arrow. Now having done a good amount of archery in the past it does look like fun.

Who gives a fuck if it's historically accurate? This is modern sport not a Persian battlefield.
I doubt a bow hunter would have any unfair advantage for the same reasons a Sheutzen champ wouldn't have an unfair advantage in paintball. There's a big difference between shooting from a blind and running while gunning. Only a dip shit New Jersey city boy would confuse the two skills. Oh "that's not how long bowmen fought"? Those aren't long bows either. Nor do bow hunters normaly take shots from fifty yards out (25 or less is the comon preference for humane hunting reasons). In fact, everything that fucktard just stated should be comepletely disregaded. He's talking out his ass again. The dude needs to stop being such a whiny pussy and let the other kids in the sandbox enjoy themselves.
This looks like good fun that develops motor sklls most people in this century no longer have. Did you see that guy matrix dodging arrows? Fucking awesome!
Dos it translate to IRL defense skills? Who cares? Yoi can finally pratice arrow snatching without losing a lung.
Where do I sign up?

That's not a "modern" sport, it's recreation. I don't think paintball is a sport either.
Machette what's your bow hunting/training background. I'm trained on long, compound, and crossbows for 25 years.
I've been a licensed hunter both archery and rifle. I've hunted across hundreds of acres of mountain forest.
If your argument is that I can't kill something at 50 yards with a long or compound bow...well, you're the one talking out of his ass. You certainly can (accuracy issues aside).
Hell, do you even know the current world record for a long shot? It's a bit longer than 25 yards LOLLast edited by W. Rabbit; 8/14/2015 12:09pm, .

The bows in the videos are slightly recurved longbows.
They're definitely not flatbows, compounds, or crossbows, right Machette? Can you even tell?
How many arrows or bolts have you ever fired?
I've got a dozen bolts ten feet away from me, right now.
It turns out "Archery Tag" shares the bruising of paintball.

Bow hunting...an "ethical" shot for a compound bow might stretch to 35 yards for most people. For a stickbow, 25 is pretty far. I watched a guy shoot an elk (on TV) at 75 yards with a compound bow, in snow flurries. He hit and killed it...
That was a stupid, unethical shot, to say the least.
You two guys go shit up your own thread with your flirting.

It's lethal at 80+ yards and has a maximum range of 500 yards, but no foot pounds remain at that range, obviously.
I don't hunt any more, just target practice.
Either way nothing changes Machette is just being stupid and calling me a "faker" again. He keeps picking the wrong subjects, though.
I'll bet he has yet to post a single picture of him training at Coach Asin's school, even though he said he would.Last edited by W. Rabbit; 8/14/2015 12:37pm, .
