That's basically every day at home for me. I get a few free moments, suddenly I'm under attack by tiny clones of myself. One of them even trains BJJ, which makes it interesting...the other one just punches or kicks me in the gut or nuts whenever he sees an opening.

        really?

        never going to happen.

Studied Judo and other grappling systems as well as Shuai Jiao.

Some little fucker is going to be surprised when old man has a better ground game.

You dimwits think I dont train with people and get on the ground? I train privately with a few teachers and their students. I like to train martial arts.

and I have used it for real more than most people on this thread.

        Fuck off.

          Nothing.

Uhm...can we get sane for a second?

Dale, you aren't a poon, ok? You're a big strong guy. That's cool. That helps a lot, and no realist denies it. But it doesn't offset everything else in the world.

Yes, there's a CHANCE you'll one-hit him. There's a CHANCE you'll drop a nice sprawl on him and surprise him. There's a chance you'll beat him with a flurry before the fact that he's years younger and probably has 12 points of BMI on you comes into play and he takes a limb.

That said - you're biting off a fairly competitive BJJ player. For all his hyperbole and odd antics on BS, Villian IRL is not the kid that came here in the day. You and I are of an age where we are kind of static. He's not. He's been on here through his teens and 20s, and he's been getting better the whole time. He's 5'8" 180ish LEAN, and he's wrestled guys of all sizes in absolute divisions for years.

You're tall. You're strong. But you're not the fucking juggernaut, and you might not even be the actual vegas favorite here.

I was taking BJJ lessons from a 135# purple belt (that's several ranks below villian). The only mark I ever put on him was one time he took my back and RNC'd me standing up so fast I FELL on him, like andre the giant in the princess bride. Jiujitsu is no joke, and you wrestle everyone in the gym. You watch competition BJJ and think it gets a little slow and static and there's lots of windows in it where you could throw a punch, but you haven't seen what happens when a new guy comes to class gets ultra-tapped 10+ times in a couple minutes. You haven't seen what happens when a guy actually picks his hand up to throw that punch and finds himself face down and unware of how he got there.

Being taken down by someone with a deeper ground game than you is literally like being drowned in a horse trough.

          TL:DR

          Motherfucker ain't a patio block.

          Just sayin'

When was the last time you rolled, and how is your heel hook defense? The Villain is an active, world class grappler. Sheer mass, and some Judo classes you did back in the 1990's aren't going to compensate for that. When it comes to grappling, the biggest guys don't always win the absolute division. In fact I'm pretty sure that Jacare Souza (a small middleweight) once subbed Werdum (the current UFC heavyweight champ) at a BJJ competition. If you think that the Villain doesn't have a cent chance of ripping your leg off you are delusional.

There is nothing more noobish than explaining exactly how the fight will go under a "blue sky".

Usually people that theorycraft about how fights will go have not taken many punches to the face. If they had they'd know their theories don't mean shit and you can have a great game that goes to shitsville quick.

It's funny you brought up JFS. Dale is not John.

I wish sometimes John had actually popped you once or twice before your stall session in the parking lot for good measure. You'd have learned a whole lot more than you actually did.

The Villain, is it a feasibility to see you in Florida?

And on the other other hand, plenty of people who train BJJ and even compete at the top levels and have plenty of grappling skill, also have zero fight experience and have never been hit (for real) in their lives.

Hence my favorite BJJ idiom, in addition to the general strategy if you happen to find yourself fighting a BJJ guy...downgrade their skill as quickly as possible!!

"Punch a Black Belt in the face once, he becomes a Brown Belt. Punch him again, purple..."

                    - Carlson Gracie Sr.
Most of you that train and focus on BJJ will crumple like paper mache when struck in the face, or the solar plexus, or the abdomen, or the floating rib, because you never, ever get struck in class the way some people do regularly. It's like hitting a heavy bag, but in reverse. Learning to take hits can be more important than learning to give them out.

Some people even enjoy that sort of thing, you know. I know some of you are right here. It's part of your training philosophy IN ADDITION TO learning how to tie up your opponents limbs. Great, we agree on many things.

But honestly, it's one thing to be an elite grappler. It's another to take or dish out damage like a tank. Who will win most often? The person who learns to do both.

I'm sure Villain and Dale do both...right? I've been wrong before...

                        Really, though

Are you Carlson Gracie Sr? Can you mount a BJJ guy to hand out those punches?

You do remember that The Villain fought a kung fu guy in a parking lot, right? I'm pretty sure he can take a punch.

Yeah he remembers. That's what he was referring to a few posts back when he said he wished Jordan would've eaten a few more punches from JFS, so that Jordan would've learned more from it.

Yeah, I'm sure world class BJJ competitors never eat the occasional hard elbow or knee in training.

I don't theorycraft about martial arts, ever. That's because I actually train them. Who has time for theory?
