I've been doing nothing but rolling with some standup for a while now... with a bit of striking training from a MT/JKD instructor to hold me over until I get back into that full time.

You guys...so cute, so stupid, when you take me seriously. You can call it trolling, or just me "being an idiot".

I just think of it as payback. Many of you absolutely deserve that sort of thing; it's your karma for being here, your cross to bear, for torturing people the way you often do.

How did my beef with Dale end up with Rabbit all emo? Seriously I haven't been reading the whole thread, but please do not bully him on my behalf. If that's what's happening. I hate group think and actual bullying.

But why? Never understood that concept of "go away, otherwise you want attention".

It's a web forum, it's meant for posting back and forth.

When people "walk away" the site gets quiet and boring and nobody posts.

Bullshido's single saving grace is that it is a parody/satire site. That doesn't mean members have to select other members to target and rip apart daily. That's destroyed this community. Spread that around and back off when necessary, it's fun. But selecting "fish" is stupid and self-destructive to ANY community, online or off.

You want to actually grow it again? Then certain people need to learn how to poke other members while still supporting their hopes and dreams and crazy ideas, instead of dashing them.

The model for Bullshido failed a long time ago, the one where the anonymous mob ripped members and non-members alike. Guess what? The whole internet does that now, BS is not special, and in fact, the rest of the internet does it better.

Bullshido is in its death throes. Bullshido has to reinvent itself or finally die, and that reinvention requires real camaraderie between members, not this fake avatar trollfest bullshit. People can get that ANYWHERE now, including covering martial arts. Do you even know how many Facebook ripoffs of Bullshido there are? Do you think laypeople can even tell the difference between Bullshido.net, and half the crap out there today?

Answer: no they can't, and that's why the site metrics are in the toilet for now and the foreseeable future, unless people change their attitudes.

For every 1 person that comes here looking for information on bullshidoka or fraud, 50 probably come to join the hootenanny, and leave right away. Just think about that, "churn rate".

Churn...black hole...sinking ship. Or, actually try to reinvigorate this social network of part time and full time martial artists and starting shedding Bullshido's "rep" for being a haven of gasbag trolls.

I know I work very hard to support Bullshido as a positive resource, which is why it's a shame I get so little support from some of the more established members for being helpful, and rather get so much flak for just being the big (6'3") nerd/knucklehead I've always been.

It turned more into a technique thread YMAS style with W Rabbit and Dale claiming to be invulnerable to heel hooks with their Kung Fu stone legs or other some shit. That hurt a few of our BJJ players sensibilities. As you and I are probably the only 2 people in this thread that has pulled off heel hooks in a competitive environment, I think we just took it for the humor that it was.

Now saying that, I didn't really have a side on this Gong Sau, but I kind of want you see you heel hook W. Rabbit now. He is much closer to you, and it would be more hilarious.

Rabbit, a "BJJ guy" was trolling other BJJ guys for their trolling, but using Southern Iron Kung Fu (aha!), so they trolled his Kung Fu back, and then having spit their fill of snark, turned on his BJJ. Classic Bullshido, indeed, right Fake? I do try.

It's Bullshido...this is the place that sort of thing brings folks together... other sites would have separated everyone fast and sent them to their rooms with a spanking and possibly some ban action. But not here! Here, we fight.

But the site is really best served not by fighting and growing apart, but fighting and growing closer. Some people on Bullshido support this ideal...I know I do. Some do not.

It's really not my fault the same few members habitually cry and sneer and want me to shut the fuck up all the time because they lack my charismatic goods.

And personally I think that ad hominem combined with the occasional reasoned argument, something the establishment here relies on a bit too heavily, is really NOT the best way to get your point across to new members, many remaining members, or the "random Google Searcher".

They are not "the mob", they are really a small vocal minority. They include mods, regulars, and newbs but seriously, it's all smoke and mirrors and they know it.

They are the past of Bullshido, not it's future because without a change in certain attitudes, this site has no future. Then we'll all weep for what this place used to be.

you're mode-switching because it's convenient. Elaborate, double-secret troll kayfabe that is JUST shy of stupidity we've actually seen before is not some wonderful martyrdom on your part.

We don't "honestly know" what you do and do not know. We can't really tell when you're trolling and when you're not, because of the context. This is not the onion, this is a real place where people have absolutely said things every bit as dumb in utter sincerity. Contextually, you're part of what I think of as the "carpet arts" - those arts prone, for some reason, to hold events in hotel ballrooms - and thus more likely, by an order of magnitude, to NOT be "trolling" when posting such statements.

You, personally, are one of the WORST examples of what you're talking about, as far as goofy inside shit one moment, intense NO GUYS I'M BEING SERIOUS TODAY the next. You're also quite possibly one of the most pedantic members of the site, for better or worse, so while your input is noted, please limit the degree to which you upbraid we humble kettles, oh pot.

Bullshido, itself, broadly, is actually quite healthy. The forums are going through some weird growing pains, many of which are just tech related, but some of which are specific cultural and some of which are wider internet culture changing.

When BS was new, a site where people met in person was an anomaly, Kind of A Big Deal. That's less so, now.

When BS was new, the topical message board was the mode, and that's less true now (although I question the degree to which facebook is a long-term business model; monopoly social media may ACTUALLY be a slowly dying trend, based on the way under-21 Y.O.s use it)...

We're looking into where to take it next.
