On another note when the science catches up I am going to use my engineering know how to build the "Montage Machine" where basically you will be able to download skills right into the brain. Sort of like in the Matrix.

Its probably been at least a decade still I've seen the Karate Kid, but if I recall, kicking to the face was against the rules of the tournment. Therefore, Daniel got his ass kicked, then won by cheating.

Kicking in the face was not illegal in that tournament. It was just normal old school point karate. Punches to the face were illegal in the tournament in part III, though....that one was essentially KK knockdown.

Speaking of Kreese. His main problem is he has no honnor. He's a brat and his students are brats. He encourages them to injure people in competition. What an asshole!

On top of that, all his friends are assholes too. That greasy dude with the pony tail? He was like Steven Segal's fluffer.

Yeah, part III is a terrible fucking movie. Two grown men plotting, over maniacal laughter, the demise of a teenager....that's essentially the whole movie. The one with Hilary Swank was even better than that bullshit.

And finally for all his bravado he can't fight and his students can't either. Think about it. Pat Morita regularly tosses them all around like rag dolls. I'll repeat that. They get OWNED by PAT MORITA!

Well, since Pat Morita was doubled in the action scenes by Fumio Demura, it kinda makes sense.
I met Sensei Demura a while back when he came here to Honduras to test two local high rank black belts for higher grade. He flunked both of them. Respect for the man.

I remember about 3 weeks after I started Kyokushin when I realized I essentially was Cobra Kai. Yeah, seriously, screw painting fences.

You know, I saw that movie again recently and had totally forgotten about the part where Miyagi gets drunk and starts crying about his wife who died in an internment camp. Plus the tournament was pretty unrealistic - no age, weight, gender or rank classes, just everybody fighting everybody.

Miyagi was a crappy martial arts teacher, but Cobra Kai were a bunch of assholes. I think it's important - especially if you're teaching kids and teens- for a martial arts school to be an ethical and positive/supportive group. If you're teaching martial arts and teaching people to be assholes, than you're just training up a bunch of bullies.

Yup. Lowest weight class is 160lbs and under too. I could easily end up facing someone that is both much more experienced and much larger than I am.

They even, the year I went, had a division with gloves and face punches that allowed a woman to fight the men. She got 2nd place- beat the tar out of a dude who was also fighting hard, and with a swollen face she then fought that dude's instructor. She lost, but put up a hell of a fight. Everyone was happy. Nobody was holding back because she was a woman, either, thank fuck. She was big and strong and shew crew up in a tough as hell part of the world and she is still my hero more than a little.

It's the parents responsibility to teach their kids not to be arseholes, not a martial arts class.

While I do agree, the martial arts class shouldn't be teaching them specifically to be ass holes.
