Oh, they're human for sure. They're some of the most deluded humans on the face of the earth, but they are human.

Do you mean that they have convinced themselves that they are like Asian Knights Templar or some other craziness?

Apparently ninjutsu is "too deadly" for Kyokushin to handle, lol!
Back in the late 80's we had two ninjers show up at the dojo. They always stood in the corner, watched, snickered and rolled their eyes. After the second night, I asked if they were interested in signing up and the older one chuckled and told me that they were from a school of ninjitsu with direct ties to Stephen K. Hayes. At that time, I was still dumb, and still had the taste of ninjer Kool-Aid in my mouth.

The kid was about 21 or so and close to my size and I invited him to spar after the group left. He told me that he did not have any waivers with him and that he couldn't be responsible for my medical bills and didn't want to kill me, so we never did find out just how deadly his shit was. When I reflect on this, I am kind of pissed off and yet I want to laugh. At least the ninjer was compassionate and decided to spare my life.

You guys are lucky, at least you have ninjas to make fun of. Only thing we have were I live is strip mall krotty and a couple BJJ places. And even our mcdojo krotty still spars.

My rule is this; never complain or argue the rules before you defeat a man. It's the rules of the old dojo. So let's say you're grappling and a ninja attacks, trying to snap your neck. You defend, put him in a jiujitsu hold and explain that ninjitsu is garbage. Then, after that's done, you can request that he not not do the inverted eye gouge.

It's about percentages that can usually be expressed in the bell curve. Generally speaking in any discipline or practice, there will be the upper 20% of the group who "get it" and are there for the right reasons. There will be a larger number of people in the center of the curve, about 60% who are there for varying degrees of right and wrong thinking and can do the work with degrees of ability and right engagement. And, then there are the lower 20% who need to be somewhere else for differing reasons.

The lower 20% don't have to have poor skills. They might simply not have the mental or emotional balance for the thing, whatever discipline or practice it is, or they might not have right motive. Needing to be somewhere else isn't just having or not having skill, it is about the whole man concept.

I've spent a lot of time looking at "ninjutsu." My degree is in Asian history and I spent three years in Japan a long time ago (add joke about meeting the Shogun). Unfortunately, outside of its historical context, in modernity, the whole idea of being a reconnaissance soldier or agent of espionage from feudal Japan is a little out of step with living today.

Rather than blame a historical practice, maybe it is you are meeting damaged people. They may be people of varying skill and ability, but they are still lacking in some area of emotional / mental development, whereby they think they are being tough when in fact they are simply badly out of step with their environment and cannot see it.

          These people are self-disqualified.

In a decade they may look back and realize it, or they may continue in their path of self-justification.

I've learned to avoid such people. I used to talk with them and try to challenge their thinking in a positive way, but until they come to some dead end of self-realization, they'll rationalize whatever bizarre definition they hold to. In a decade they may say, "I'm sorry for X," but you may be living with the negative of what X was.
I mostly agree with this, though I'd add the 'self delusion' distribution curve is far greater in some arts than others.

Ninjutsu, which consists of compliant training and rests on the shoulders of quasi-historical Japanese mythology, is going to attract a much higher percentage of fuckwits.

Arts like Judo, boxing, wrestling or BJJ, or anything really that constantly pressure tests itself as part of a regular training session tends to- by the nature of their constant reality checking- have a much smaller percentage of fuckwittery.

                Oh yeah, that video.
That person (not sure if male or female) probably is seriously mentally ill.

That's a female, believe it or not, and even among ninjer standards she's... Special.

Yeah, what I get from that video actually is lashing out in pain. A hell of a lot of emotional pain.

True, but then again, none of us can possibly know what stress one must be under having to keep all the secrets contained in those scrolls. Not to mention, having to live with the thought that you could end a human life just by thinking real hard about it or slapping someone; that's pressure. I will not judge her, nope, I ain't gonna do it.

It's a female?? I take it back then she is a true ninja because that's some serious gender stealth.

It sounds like she's being bullied, most likely for her size and gender. I hope she fucks them up.

Yeah. Honestly, yeah. But it sounds like it's an online thing so I doubt it'll happen. This is pretty old, too. I wonder how she's doing?
